Thanks again everyone! It looks like the balance of opinion is for the $1500 event. I rang a mate of mine yesterday and he reckoned I should play some deepstacks at the Venitian. However, he had just played the $215 on Party. Third hand he got QQ, one caller. Flop comes Q95, he bets, he gets raised and all the money goes in. Opponent has JT. You know the rest... As he said, imagine if that happened half an hour into a $1500 event!

As you all say, the whole point of going out there is playing in a WSOP event, however unlikey cashing is, otherwise I might as well use the money to play in a decent GUKPT event. As long as I go in with the mindset that the money is basically lost at the start.

Hmm.....

Although it seems counter intuitive I don"t think this is a bad idea.

You have to make the correct decisions when playing no matter how much money is at stake, if you start with the mindset that the entry fee is no longer your money and you"ve lost it, then it means you"ll be free to play your cards without the pressure of thinking that you have to cash.

This should free up your thinking so that you can just relax and play your natural game - which has to be a good thing.

I agree, if you play thinking about how much it has cost to enter, or play trying to last longer, then you wont play your normal game and you will find yourself playing far too weak. So pay your money, relax, and play your own game and if things go well great, if they don"t at least you have had the experience of playing a WSOP event.
