European Poker Championships - Grosvenor Vic - London
« on: September 22, 2011, 12:01:57 PM »
Has anyone played or are set to play in any of these events currently running.

I ran well then got splattered QQ vs AT in the Betfair $35k last night 8th of 288 for $1075.55 ... so I am going to play the main event on Saturday : £1000+70

Two flights at 1pm and 6pm - 100 runners max each - not convinced it will sell out - but a reasonable stroll in the park ... 15000 chips - 45 min levels ...

Friday night there is a Turbo-Esque £150+15 : 7500 chips - 25 min levels - which is a tempting starter to the weekend.

Break 2

20825 chips from a 15000 starting stack - just about to go to 300/600 (50) - 40 left in my flight.

Only 52 runners on my flight - I guess 60+ tonight - so there will be £120k+ in the middle.

One big lay down right or wrong - and chipped up AA vs AKs ... the AK guy then shipped 40 BB with K9s ... I mean is that ever a good play?

Lady to my left - potential deadly - rest of the table seem okay (to play against) - Not sure what they think of my style - a fuller report tomorrow. Only 4 more levels tonight.

Sadly I exited on the last level of the day ... the best part of two hours card dead ... nothing you would particularly want to shove or re-shove so KTo vs A9o and no help - same exit hand as Betfair Live ... maybe next time I spike??

The hand before I could have shoved 52o UTG vs AQ vs AQ and spiked an Ace for a straight on the river ... the two hands before I could have shoved similar trash into KK and QQ ... choose your moment and all that ...

Early I had made it to 44k vs 29k average on the back of a second pair eight kicker call for my life vs one of the chip leaders ... FTW and all that I went on the attack ... but a series of AQ misses were followed by turning a pair vs trip fours ... all small dents back soon back to average ... Mr trip 4s ... then managed to turn and river two further sets of fours in the next 30 mins ... easy game cometimes ...

Could have been a bit more defensive or paradoxically aggressive but it would have been on the back on no cards ... when I got to 44k the two players to my left still had me covered - bit of a straightjacket at times. At the card death continued I was moved to a new table - largely irrelevant but broadly annoying - as my previous table had players shoving a little lighter ... mmm

About 40 people are going to go back for 11 to be paid - disappointing turnout really - a bad end to a good poker week -or can I fimd an absurd turbo to play??

Good report Louis and better luck in the mad turbo, if you find it.

It"s fricking hilarious that 25o is favourite vs AQo vs AQo ... that would have been one crazy shove to get me back to average ...

I am pondering what I would have done differently - I had a massively marginal lay down earlier for my tournament life - It"s 50/50 whether I was right or not - and even if head I could have been against all sorts of draws - slightly aggro player - but it had the feel of top pair vs two pair ...

I could have limped a little less - but my limping won me a lot of chips - and had I landed a premium hand there was a strong likelihood I would have been able to limp re-raise all in.

No natural squeeze spots - you usually get one or two!

Highlight of the day was someone value betting in dark with a set vs my flush draw which I hit (following a J5s limp!) ...

Highlight two the quicket ever all in shove with the turned King Flush vs AA as overpair no re-draw - dwell call - shocker ... my super marginal fold was against the same player who was pretty quick to raise me all in following my top pair bet ... masterplan ... don"t think so ...

I have failed to find a suitable turbo ... perhaps a suitable cash game can be found??
