I wasn"t intending to play this week apart from the freeroll tonight, but seen as though some cash from tilt hit the bank, and Susan"s cousin was round, thought I would take advantage.

It"s the usual 30/30 £2k gteed, and it got 42 runners.

Was doing ok until 1 3 bet QQ v 2 limpers, got 1 caller, flop 5 high I lead out, if this villain has hit the flop he is never going away, it all goes in I have £2k returned, QQ v 53off, the 3 hits the river, marvellous, smile, say nh and move on ( new zen like poker head).

Unfortunately this happened 1 minute from the break so I take the add on and have 10k after the break.

We reach the final table and I have 20 bigs which disappear v quickly as I lose with AJ v A4, AK v A8 and almost lose the lot with 99 v A6, but a 9 on the river reprieved me, think I deserved that one after previous hands.

The bubble is agreed I am short so not going to argue, I get it in 5 handed v 2 people, 7 on the flop and it"s good for a treble, a deal is proposed and it"s £350 to 3 of us and £450 to the chip leaders, well happy with this as I only had 9 bigs so accept and get home.

As said the £5k league freeroll is on tonight, I have got a 15k starting stack, v 15 stacks of 20k, and another 15 of 10k, it"s their usual structure and given a fair crack of the whip, hope to make a decent run at it.

If no success in the above may play the 25/25 sat at 10pm, 3 seats gteed only got 7 runners last week may be velly value.

Will have a stab at Dtds game on Thursday as well, worth at least one bullet.

Thanks for reading, run good, be lucky, stay healthy.

Played the league freeroll last night, unfortunately finished 2 of the cash Ak < A7 for a 13 big blind shove utg, no problems with that, want the call, villain had hit everything so was not confident when the cards were turned over.

A fun hand I wasn"t involved in but just typical of the G, blinds 25/50, utg makes it 800 to go, the table chuckles, she indicates she doesn"t like this hand so decided to bet big, ( can you tell what it is yet), say in Rolf Harris accent.

Looks like JJ to me, big blind re shoves all in, now knowing the 2 players involved the only hand she will call with here is AA, and she folds after tanking a while, she had already picked up AA and played them quite well winning a nice little pot first hand, bb shows KK, good fold then wp, she then explained she hates playing Jacks, easy solution don"t play the 4th best starting hand in poker.

I forgot about this hand from the previous night and it proved to be one of my most pleasurable hands this year only won 4k but it was who it was against.

Most of the regs at the G I don"t mind and I am fairly easy going and get on with most people but for some reason this one guy just winds me up, (there is another one but it wasn"t him this time),I don"t know his name, never even spoke to him and I might be doing him a massive disservice but it"s just a feeling.

The above guy raised my bb with AK and I only had 10 bigs and looked down at 4 5 spades it was close to the rentry and thought it was pretty enough to gamble with, so I shoved and he insta calls no problem, if lose I can renter, flop was AKx with one spade, oops runner runner spade, this guy goes mad, asking if I am on drugs, how can I shove with xxxxx like that! I half heard his rant as I was listening to some music but could tell something was off as he flung his chips over still ranting, calm down dear

I really don"t understand his reaction to a game of cards.

After the break he was gunning for me a couple of times he raised my blinds ( usually easy to steal any way) showing 45 suited, think this made him a bit happy, well played sir.

I pick up tens and raise, this guy decides to shove 15 bigs, happy for a flip here I have him covered, wii better than a flip he has 66, I hold, gg him.

One thing I try not to have is an ego at the poker table and if I lose a pot against someone I will try and not let it affect my game this guy just wanted to get back at me and because of it he lost the plot, incidentally his shove with 66 was ok, sometimes I will fold in this spot but as I had him covered i was ok with my call.

When I first started playing over there, I would go home berating other peoples play not to the players (usually to Susan, but she didn"t have a clue about stack sizes, fold equity, money jumps etc), it"s a game of cards, skill and luck are all part and parcel and it"s really not worth getting that upset about unless of course it"s your last £60, and if that"s the case you shouldn"t be there in the first place.

Hopefully we will see the return of the Stockton home game next week, seems everyone is making an effort to get there, this game has died off in The last few months which is a bit of a shame, but will be good to see everyone before Christmas, I have promised to shove £100 behind the bar so we are all good for a few drinks after my recent heater, if it wasn"t for this lot and poker at the Eagle may off gave up a while back.

One shot at Dtd tonight I think, haven"t played on Full Tilt the last few days, lost a flip so I took the huff, only kidding more important stuff to do, always a game on tomorrow, enough ramblings, run good, be lucky stay healthy.

Last minute decision to play the 25/25 at Leeds today, had a decent 45 minute session on rush and sold some so why not.

Get seat 10 table 4 and get off to a good start with JJ, up to 33k, stationed a button raiser who also had an overpair to the board, lucky for me it wasn"t one of the big 3, it could of been, didn"t fancy getting 25k worth of chips at 50/100 in the middle.

The next few levels were a total grind, any raise was met with resistance, not hitting flops, c bets getting re raised etc until I get back to 40k, when I get 2 streets of value with AA v AJ, checked the river as the board had double paired and a flush had got there but was ok.

Blinded down to 20 bigs card and spot dead, when the sb jams 20bigs, oops I get dem Aces again, they hold and I am back in it.

This next big hand was crucial it involves me with AA again, I know card rack, but on the opposite side, any hand I tried to win pots with just fizzled into nothingness.

Shortstack shoves, next guy re raises, I re re raise click back, sb jams 50k, double check I have the bullets, first raiser gets out of the way, AA v QQ v J10, safe as houses for a pot which takes me to 140k, which is were I peaked.

I lost a few, AJ raise utg v  J3, defended in the bb I double barrelled the KK3 flop, but gave up on the river as he was never folding imo down to 120k, again no opportunities to get chips until second last hand of the night, I defend k7 clubs to a min raise and a call, A high flop with 2 clubs, I lead out, get flatted, K on the turn, again I lead, but a brick on the river slows me down, he turns over AJ, sigh, club or a 7 or anothther K, would of been good, but it wasn"t to be.

Bagged up 92,570, blinds 1200/2400 on return on Sunday at 1pm so just under 40 bigs which is ok.

I would like to say I played great and ran some bluffs etc but it was mostly a grind, my big hands held and I am in a semi decent position because of that.
The structure in these games is spot on, you can be patient and wait for decent opportunities, which sometimes do come along.

Guarentee of £25k has already been passed, and with 2 more flights tomorrow it could get between £50 and £60k, let"s hope for some run good on Sunday. Thanks for reading.

Home early from Leeds unfortunately, bit of a cooler QQ into AA.

After blinds and antes from 2 orbits was in funky 30 big blind land, utg raises ( his 3rd raise on the trot), I 3 bet with QQ, folds to original raiser who jams, a quick count and I have 20 bigs, it"s a sigh call hoping he has AK, possibly, Jacks or below.

Won a big pot on Friday with the same scenario, just variance getting me back, AA was tabled.

It wasn"t to be, an ace on the flop virtually sealed my fate, hey ho no one died, just a small part of the long game.

Been a good week so I can"t complain, Sunday Funday at the G tonight, plus still have a sweat in Brighton I think, good luck to Dave and Myles.

Played the 15/15 last night at the G, after all 35 minutes at Leeds wasn"t going to full fill my live poker for the day, see above for details, pretty standard spot could of flatted and folded but I don"t play like that anymore.

Had one eye on Daves updates from Brighton so was playing slightly looser than normal, ( believe that you will believe anything), had poker pops on my table the rest were the usual G crowd including Betty the destroyer.

Usual play early doors ie nothing and was looking for a double up as I dwindled to about 5k, with about 10 mins to go before the break with the add on would have 13k which is 30 bigs.

Raise 43 suited utg, (all about image), one flat and a reraise from Dave, I know he can raise me fairly light if he wanted but I wasn"t beating much with 4 high with a 3 kicker so I wimped out, it eventually gets to showdown and Dave"s AA holds v AQ on a Queen high flop.

5 mins from the break I flop a set with 33, it gets in eventually v a heart flush draw, the jack of hearts duly arrives but given there was a Jack on the flop I housed up, bink.

After the break jam 99 v an utg raise 12 bigs effective stack, snapped by J9 off, didn"t win that hand he made a straight somehow and was really apologetic, no need sir want the call every day of the week.

Jam 10 bigs with 33 v 99 v 10 10, nice treble up there then, 3 binked the turn.

Lose with AA v Betty"s 10 10, roller coaster ride this one and eventually get it in really bad with A 10 v AK v 10 10, fun night although they were a bit feisty tonight with constant moaning about bad beats and people berating other peoples play.

One guy even complaining when he has won a hand hitting a better 2 pair than a flopped 2 pair that the original flatter should never be in the hand.

I try not to give advice to people but this guys attitude is so wrong, he is constantly moaning about how unlucky he is one outed here 2 outed there, ( was probably me a few year ago tbh) and he even said he goes home angry and wound up by the game, if it"s doing that to you don"t bother it"s not worth it.

I then got 15 minutes worth of bad beat stories which to be honest I don"t want to hear at a poker table, we all get them, we all give them accept it, it"s part of the game.

Get home and see Dave is still doing the business in Brighton so I am in profit for the day as I had a cheeky 10%, even when I don"t run good some one does it for me. Well done Myles as well making day 2 down there.

Loved his chip stacking skills on the final table, get to bed and find out he has done a deal for £7k6 plus a trophy, wiiiii, all about timing, well done that man.

Susan sends a massive kiss on the cheek as do I, actually a virtual man hug, well played again sir, enjoy your winnings.

It"s been a good month £2k5 into bank from poker, plus have $2k roll on full tilt to continue with.

This weeks poker will be the 30/30 on Tuesday , the return of the Stockton home game at the players lounge on Thursday and at least one sat attempt into Gentings Grand Final at Sheffield, run good, be lucky stay healthy.

Quickie, made the final table of the 30/30 last night and was in an ok position, the bubble had been agreed so the play became a bit quicker, blinds were 4k/8k thought I had enough chips but a quick count revealed I had just under 10 bigs, there are 2 shorties hanging onto their 2 and  3 big blind stacks, I look down at JJ, decision time ( obvious really I know), icm wise I can fold and the shorties will hopefully lose and I make a bit more, noo, play to win, shove the Jacks, get called by the big stack who has AQ, Q binks the flop and the rest is history, a collective cheer goes up from the short stacks.

No problem with that, I had sucked out on the villain earlier when he had limped 88 utg and I jammed K9 from the sb, 9 binked, win a flip, lose a flip.

One of the shorties I don"t mind giving the extra cash too as he in my humble opinion is the worst player on Teesside and this extra bit of cash keeps him in the game for the next few months I am quite happy with that, we want them to lose their bankrolls, steadily over a longer period of time, keep donating sir.

After giving Dave his 10%, ,made a profit of £2.50, approx 40p an hour, wiiii, still love the game though.

Online, cash bubbled a £55 one on Tilt, and on Stars beat 6500 other people to make a profit of $18.

May play a sat to Gentings grand final in Sheffield, slightly disappointed didn"t win last night as I would of definitely played it.

Onwards, run good, be lucky stay healthy.

After the excitement of the previous week or so in poker this week has proved to be pretty average, with the exception of the return of the Stockton home game.

This game was a must every Thursday until pretty recently, it has died off slightly due to a few things I think , Riley"s closing, gtees at the local casino and a general lack of interest.

It was brought back this week due to it being near Christmas and Gary"s Bramble Brandy being ready.

Due to my previous luck boxing over the last fortnight I put £100 behind the the bar and some else added a bit to it so it was a freeish bar for the first 20 minutes.

I must be getting old as the noise was pretty unbearable, jukebox and the general frivolity, music choice was pretty diverse, slip knot, then Dr Hooks, if I said you had a beautiful body, wtf, who chose that for crying out loud.

Won"t bore you with poker hands but I did come 2cd to Phil F, who late regged and took it down for £80, my £40 enabled me to play Galas £40 last night which I finished 13th or so, usual standard, people can"t or won"t fold once they have put money in the pot.

After chipping up in the early levels, my 3 bets after the break v early position limpers were met with flats and on 4 occasions I had dominating hands but villains all got there, not a problem they will all return next week.

Big thanks again to DH for binking Brighton, received funds into account and I would have no hesitation in staking him again, although with this bink he may not need it, gl to him in the rest of the 25/25 series.

Decided not to try and qualify for Sheffied grand final as I had something booked for Saturday so I wouldn"t of been able to play Day 2.

G have just released their Christmas festival details and there are a few funky games out there, win the button, joker poker, roe etc, tag team but I will probably stick with the hold em games, hoping to qualify for Dtds £500 after Christmas as well, plus I shall be putting down some goals for next year.

Out for a meal tonight with wives and partners, pub we are going to is pretty tight with space so wheelchair is going to be a bit of a nightmare but they are aware, reading about Carls exploits in Prague we have to be thankful we can get about in one piece.

Heartwarming to see everyone doing their bit to help him out whilst over there, we all take our health for granted and it really is the most important thing, without out it nothing else is that important in the great scheme of things, peace.

Played the 15/15 last night, within 5 minutes wish I hadn"t bothered not cards wise, I wasn"t really in the mood only wanted to get out of the house as feeling a bit low, not the best of ideas tbh, but did it any way.

Cliffs on the game, usual 3 bets were met with the usual limp, call get there, spiked a 7 when holding 77 when original raiser had KK I only had 12 bigs so it was a pretty standard shove for me, it got my chips back from said person who had flatted 3 bets always behind and gets there, as said many times before keep getting it in with the best hand it will work out long term, or suck out when the only hand they raise is AA or KK.

Lose a flip on the final table bubble which leaves me with 5 bigs, which I duly shove with atc and gets through with no resistance, one guy almost telling the guy in bb he has to call, which I was not happy about, he was right of course but he has to keep his mouth shut, he is not involved in the hand.

One ridiculous hand guy shoves with 3 bigs, sb calls atc ( the big mouth) , bb decides to fold QQ, lol, collusion ???, shover husband! folder wife! mmmmm.

Ak wins v sb but wouldn"t of won the queens.

Reach the ft 5 paid, some one asks for bubble, ffs only 5 paid, no chance, even though I am short stacked would be pretty embarrassed to agree to be honest.
We do eventually reach the bubble and everyone agrees to a bubble being paid, the cards are given out red and black and as everyone had agreed it was a surprise to see a red one back on the table, so bubble deal is scuppered, guy who threw in red card says he thought he had threw the black one in, and can we do it again, td rules no, I eventually shove 8 bigs with K4 hearts into a smaller stack who calls with Ace high which holds, so finish 6th with 5 paid, no biggie.

Ww3 nearly broke out between a Chinese guy and a Greek/Turk guy and the td had to come over and tell them to cut it out twice otherwise they would be banned and disqualified, pretty tiresome tbh.

I used to enjoy this game but the players are beginning to irk me now and may cut this out of the schedule, the game may change in the new year to a new structure so I shall wait and see with that.

As long as the guarentee is still on at Tuesdays game this is the one I will stick with plus Galas gteed one on a Friday, or dont bother with any of the local ones and just play one biggie a month, to be decided.

Thanks for reading, run good, be lucky stay healthy.

Been experimenting with cash, mainly because bricking mtts is a fairly regular occurrence and with sng traffic pretty limited on Full Tilt I need some funds to supplement the mtts.

To say it started badly is an understatement was down about $400 after 10k hands, not the greatest of starts, about 7 days worth, I am playing 25/50 rush on full tilt, the standard games are just turgid, rush is fun though, (when winning).

My last 2k hands has put me in profit of $100, so pleased to get out of that little hole now hopefully can keep going in an upward direction.

Nothing else to report on online at the minute, won a couple of sats worth $100 which I converted to cash as the target tourney had started and didn"t want to late reg it, so after a little downswing of mtts and cash, bankroll back at the $2k mark which is double what I wanted to start January with, even after a few withdrawals for Christmas.

The local Gala has just been taken over by the rainbow group and it looks like they are putting on the gloves to battle it out with the G, this Sunday is a $3k gtee £50 + 25 which will clash with Gs first Christmas festival game.

If you have read the above post I will be taking the Gala route I think, hopefully some decent competition between the 2 casinos will give us players a bit of value for a while.

Cheers rodders, nice to get a bit of feedback, I try to keep it as real as possible, wins and losses  both reported, it"s easier to write when winning but not so easy when losing.

I was really happy with getting out of that downswing on the cash tables as I normally give up without a fight, one of my goals in 2014 is to improve my cash play and make that profitable rather than just win the odd buy on here and there for mtts.

Congrats on being picked for the Blonde team, I won"t be applying this year, unable to commit for a full weekend plus I played last year, may try and qualify for the ukipt at Edinburgh and make a holiday of it with Susan, watch this space.

An amateur player with no intentions or expectations of going pro, hoping for a bink here and there.

Gl to yourself in 2014.
