First hand of a freeroll
Everybody has 1500 chips, blinds 10,20, and you know nothing about anyone.
MP limps, SB completes and in the big blind you check with jd ks
The pot is 60
The flop is jh js
SB checks
...
...
The bet was actually 20.
MP called
SB folded
Turn:
jh js th
Pot: 100
...
The bet was 20 again - MP calls.
River:
jh js th
Pot: 140
BB: bets 100
MP:raises to 220
...
Anyway, he called and I won with a Queen high straight.
My first instinct was to post the hand and do a good bit of mocking about how he"d thrown away a pot by trying to slow play - and doing it badly.
But, I definitely didn"t put him on trips - so if a queen had come up, or if I was the type to bluff, he could have won a few chips from me. So I thought I"d throw it open to the floor to see what the opinion was of how others would have played it.
As far as I can tell the general consensus seems to be: it"s a freeroll - get all your chips in the middle whilst it"s a mistake for the other player to call. In a normal tournament I would assume, still fast play it, but a little bit more caution if the player and/or the texture of the board warrant it?
More generally I think "3 of a kinds" of any flavour should be an interesting area for analysis because they are strong enough to consider slow playing them, but there are still an awful lot of hands they are beaten by.
If anybody agrees with me, feel free to start a new thread or post in this one another example we can analyse.
