So I went and played the £50 freezeout last night.Had approx 80 runners which is a little low compared to normal, the effect of having 5 casinos within 10 miles all offering poker is definitely diluting numbers. This is a tournament I"ve always struggled with, never having made the first break in the previous 2 attempts. It seemed to be going the same last night, starting stack of 12k was quickly 5k, looked like one of those nights, I have 99 board comes AKx, I have AK, board comes 9xx etc etc. It did take me a good while to size up my table, and as soon as I did, my chips went in the right direction.
Shoved a K K 10 10 2 board with 77 that took down a 6k pot, then called down a 10 hi board with J 10 against AK, and I was soon up to 18k.
At this point it was the break and then got moved tables. Sit down, first hand into the bb, facing a raise, look down at AA, reraise get shoved on, he had AJ. Thanks for the donation. 4 times in the bb in a row I get huge hands facing raises and each time, my reraise produces folds.... I must have a tell!
We finally get down to 2 tables, and the story of my night is told over 3 hands. In the bb with
, see a flop of J 8 2, and we get it in the middle, sb had KJ and turned the K. This leaves me at 40k at 2k/4k. 2 hands later on the bubble I fold my favourite hand Q9 with several limpers. Board comes Q 9 4 and 3 players get it all in. Sigh.
Next hand, find
, facing a min raise, I shove, and the big stack next to me instashoves too. He had QQ and I miss. Enjoyed the night apart from some ridiculous I"ve got a bigger cock banter by one bloke who was knocked out.
On the grinding front, it got to Monday night and my roll was down at $141, which is the second lowest it"s been. Carried on, and slightly changed my calling/raising ranges at different points.
Since then, I"ve played 40, 9 wins, 6 2nds, 8 3rds, and the bankroll is now at $226.11.
Going as planned to the £15 f/out tonight, City tomorrow night and then we shall see.
Here"s hoping the grind continues going well
