Mmmmmm. Some of the old "Luton" players played for Luton cos there was no team in their area. Now there is one, which will have a below-average player volume to choose from anyway, and which apparently is to be disadvantaged further by a lot of their experienced players playing for a different region which has a better chance of winning, on the pretext that they can"t bear to be parted from their old team-mates.  If the "Luton" players are all allowed to stay together, I wouldn"t put any money on East of England challenging in the league.

on the pretext that they can"t bear to be parted from their old team-mates.

John, you, and many others, seriously under-estimate what we all felt about playing for Luton. It wasn"t the town of Luton, or the G Casino that we felt part of, it was the "Team". Many of us played simply because we really enjoyed that aspect of it and it is resonable for us to want to continue that where possible. We had a quirky, even eclectic mix of people, which for some reason gelled.

I for one, don"t appreciate the "on the pretext that they can"t bear to be parted from their old team-mates." line. Perhaps you should try and come up with something positive to say for once, rather than the continual stream of negative jibes you seem enjoy posting!

yeah to be honest it saddens me when guys come up with a good thing for all involved and theres still complaints. But as the saying goes. You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time.

(even if Brendan still thinks the points system is flawed ;) )

No I don"t, I have always felt that the unlimited Team size was the major flaw and grossly disadvantaged the lesser Apat populated regions.

Edit to Add: If we can somehow keep the numerical disadvantage at less than 1/3 then I suspect this will work just fine.

Pretext - something that is put forward to conceal a true purpose or object;

In other words members of the old Luton team will pretend that they like the team spirit, camaradarie, facebook friendships, regular contact with new mates and occassional home games which have been fostered under recent stewardship when really we just want to block vote in order to improve our chances of winning something.

You are completely out of line John!

Which is a real shame because you actually make a valid point about the East of England should certain members of the old Luton team decide to stay together for entirly positive & APAT spirited reasons which APAT would have to look at

All I am saying is that I don"t see how however much you all loved each other in the past justifies the entire team staying together in a new league structure when some of them live in a different region. Even without the additional players,  London and the Home Counties will be one of the strongest teams, in fact, probably the strongest. East of England will prob be the weakest.

A little dissapointed that some measure has not been introduced to stop this as it has been one of the main issues raised in discussion time after time.

POKERSTARS is a great move imo, glad to be back !

I hope there"s ample opportunity for every Region to raise a big enough team to compete for the National Online League in Season Six Jon - providing they really want it.

Season Six should come out late next week.  I think it"s right that there is a bit of focus on the PokerStars initiative this week and we"re still clarifying various other details.

Is the starting stack and blinds a bit on the deep side?

What time would you expect the games to finish?

Roughly:

Assuming 200-250 runners then the game will take between 6 to 6.5 hours, so finish between 2-2:30 am.

Assuming 150-200 runners then the game will take between 5.5 to 6 hours, so finish between 1:30-2 am.

Assuming 100-150 runners then the game will take between 5 to 5.5 hours, so finish between 1-1:30 am.
