I now have 23 runs under my belt. 28 minutes running continuously is where I"m at at the moment, as prescribed by my C210k (Couch to 10k) phone app. The extra 3 minutes over and above last week"s 25 minute stints is enough to take me down to the bottom of a fairly steep hill. This in itself is no problem but I have to turn round at that point and run straight back up. I"ve managed it without stopping but it"s not easy - it certainly gets the thighs burning and the lungs & heart pumping. I"m not making it easy for myself by still weighing-in around the 16 stone mark. I would certainly benefit from shedding a stone or two before the race in May.
Tomorrow I run for the psychologically significant time of 30 minutes. That means I"m halfway to my goal of running for 60 minutes non-stop. This extra 2 minutes is enough to incorporate at least the first part of another steepish climb. Sigh.
Next week I"m looking forward to returning to intervals of 10 mins running / 1 min walking and 4 repetitions.
I just said I was looking forward to running. It"s a crazy mixed-up world!
