Well I thought that 3rd/4th was pretty much nailed on. Surely we should be doing different weekends but anyway........

Given that this is a "Full Fat" (Jack Prime lingo there see) [MOD SNIP] Weekend I am assuming we will be required to report for duty on the Friday (2nd August).

I therefore respectfully recommend that we do an early start on this day to give it a proper Stag weekend feel. We can play darts/pool/snooker in the afternoon if people want or just find a pub some pubs and sit in the sun outside.

Also will there be drinking games?

[MOD SNIP] Shhhh!

We"ll be aiming to leave the northern realms around midday Friday plenty of time for beers and good times upon arrival at (insert location here after 9pm watershed).. maybe even including some of Leigh's suggestions as well.. however deviant and unsuitable they were  ;)

Will be breaking in some APAT virgins from the North East as well who"ve never played an APAT before and will be making the trip.

Will be epic x

Stag doo... Cardiff you say?  ;D

Hotels - Apparently the Travel lodge has been booked, 3 twin rooms and growing.

Setting off Friday convoy style lunch time, aiming to get there Friday evening around 7 I"d guess.. depending on traffic and beer stops.

Can"t wait.

Hope as many as possible can make it the Friday night x

Phil,

Barring late night  **gentlemen"s** shenanigans, do we have a plan of any kind?

Do we want pub/pool/darts or just a pub with cheap beer perhaps with an outside area if the weather is nice?

Are we pub crawling or hunkering down and slopping up?

Enquiring minds want to know*.

*for planning materials.

A couple of ideas:

http://www.viewcardiff.co.uk/pubsandbars/the-borough-info-35317.html

One on Westgate Street, the other couple of minutes walk.

Have only been into Cardiff once and it was a little blurry, remember there being a main street with lots of bars.

No plans made, so will bow down to local knowledge, as long as it doesn"t involve taxi rides or walking any distances and we can be pretty central.. happy to go with the flow and banter.. we need a starting location though x

As I recall (and I"m equally blurry), Westgate street is the main drag, so perhaps the Queens Vaults might be the best option.

As a starting point, I would suggest The Wharf (directions from Travelodge).

A cab into town would be pretty cheap and then we"re in the thick of it...but I"m equally open to suggestions.

I"ll need to eat beforehand anyway.

Well I am going to get into Cardiff at about 3pm on that day. I would suggest heading into the Bay until people get there, there are a few nice pubs over there. The Packet is a nice traditional pub and Terra Nova is nice to sit and overlook the Bay if it is a nice day, you can get food here too. The Wharf Bar is alright for drinking outside as well. Great place to be on a sunny afternoon.

Then get a cheap taxi into town. The main drag in Cardiff is St Mary"s Street really, we can do a pretty good pub crawl. Some good pubs that basically run from the train station to the other end of Cardiff include:-

The Great Western

The Prince of Wales (Wetherspoons) - Good for food again if people need it

The Cottage

The Goat Major (Traditional Pub, good on football days)

The Irish Bar (Good Guniness)

For Wetherspoons fans you also have The Gatekeeper and Central Bar on the trail and The Queens Vaults as Paulie suggested. There is O"Neils as well and The Owain Glyndwr.

Then you have Lloyds bar and Varsity for when things start to get silly and the shots are folowing.

Still trying to think of something amusing to write in this bit.

Cheers Rodders, sounds like a plan, by the time we"re getting there I suggest you"re all fed and raring to go as we"ll probably grab a burger on the way at a service station.

Just need an opening bar on the main strip so we can get straight on it :)

I"m now booked into the Premier Inn due to me presuming Travelodge had been booked.. and it hadnt. Happy days :) x
