first though my run in good in life takes me to the pub in glorious sunshine, plentry of Guinness, and then a trip to the local G for our home game for the usual banter... with maybe some more Guinness thrown in.

Happy days x

"Likes this button" well and firmly pressed.

So. I managed to annoy most of the home game this evening. Played most pots. Luckboxing the following...

1) 33 > KK to be fair, the KK did just flat call a raise pre, a close APAT friend of mine once said "never fold a pair pre to a single raise".. followed their advice. Binked a 3 on the flop. Sorry Terry.

2) Has a few chips. Just before the rebuy period ends and the shorty shoves. I have K10 hearts. So isolate with a reshove knowing shorty has pretty much any two. Lucy then calls the shove with Aces. 2 hearts on the flop. Another on the turn. Ooops. Sorry Lucy (and Terry again).

3) Has a few more chips. Call Stu"s raise pre with J8 hearts. Ace high flop, two hearts. Stu bets 3k playing around 20k. I do think about this one. Honest. Put him on a random ace so shove for around 15k. Stu calls with A9 off. Heart on the turn. Sorry Stu.

Finally do a chop when down to 2 players. I run well.

Big thanks to pokerpops who paid the juice for our own G dealer all evening, was really appreciated, top top man. Have just left him and he had a nice looking stack at the cash table.

This is my last evening as a non dog owner. Still not decided on a name, Anna texted earlier who apparently has a short list, will be adding to this the names suggested from the APAT gang. I would suggest some of the names suggested at the table this evening... but... well for starters I"m not sure if the swear detection software on the forum would cope  :-\

With Portugal out of consideration, I have some vacation days freed up. Just saying.

Mental note - Our Stockton home game.. must do the whole history and luckboxes / fish who frequent it sooooon.. this may / may not put you off Paulie  ;D

It all started around 6 years ago.. and the local pub landlord decided that poker would be next big thing to run at The Eagle, he was the first in the area for miles around. "Pokerinthepub" came to the North East. And it would prove to be a genius decision.

Just caught up on this, excellent start to the blog Phil.

A true APAT legend in my opinion, so really looking forward to reading this on a regular basis.  Reminds me, I must put more effort into my blog.  Been a bit hectic lately, but that"s no excuse.

Looking forward to catching up in Notts in a few weeks.

So from a short list, Treacle Hobnob Bonnie was determined to be the winner... believe me this was the best option and the most macho sounding name that I would be calling out whilst future dog walking.. and I get to say "alright treacle" every day so its all good.

Anna over the moon  :D

Large turd possibly the size of the dog welcomed me this morning. Thank the lord for laminate flooring.

Home game.. the more the merrier I would say. Although TC towers may struggle to handle the whole of APAT  ;D

I think JP mentioned coming up on a Thursday soon as well.. would be epic x

Now Bonnie.. my preference of Hobnob only lasted an hour or so after the original Treacle  ::)

This evening.. was planning on playing the £120 deepstack game at the G with the fossil and pokerpops but after checking bank balance after dog purchase, then the extensive beer funds required for DTD, have an evening of beer from the fridge and some cheapo rebuy action on the APAT or Genting site planned.

Happy days.

Looking on the bright side.. bad beat stories.

I really hate bad beat stories. I know that people like to tell them, helps them de-stress, to get a pat on the back with a "aww man.. thats shocking" "wow you played that brilliantly, so unlucky".. and I"ve listened to hundreds, maybe thousands, countless of them over the years I"ve been playing. And you can"t get away from them, every tournament you play, every break I know I"ll hear one, will nod and smile at the bits giving whomever is telling the story what they want to hear. They were unlucky. They played really well.

There was even a few times I got asked to take part in a bad beat bet with others. Lets get this straight. The "winner" of the bet would be the one who got knocked out with the worst possible beat. I mean how negative do you want to be going into play some poker? Please lord.. can my quads be beat just this once by that runner runner straight flush? Not for me thanks.

Personally I"ve been making a conscious effort not to tell any for a long while now. Keeping it simple and straight to the point if asked what happened.. "I played X X bad" or "I had X X.. it lost". I"m now trying to concentrate on what I did right during a tournament or more importantly what I could of done better. Which spots I could of played better, and where I could of picked up more chips in certain hands so that in fact when I did actually go out, the flip I took which lost or whatever, I would have been still in, and not out.. Mr Brightside FTW x

Thats the boring approach to things that is Philip my boy.

Whilst you were up stairs counting the chips you luckboxed off me, I was downstairs telling the whole casino VERY loudly how much i hated you, and, indeed, wa trying numerious ways to get you shot out of the casino.

Much better than keeping my mouth shut :)

Bad beat stories ftw :) x
