Looking at Vegas for next September,  prefer direct from Manchester. Virgin do A Thursday and Sunday flight at £800 at the moment is this good? Do you know when Virgin have their sales? When is the best time to book?

Any help, much appreciated

If I recall they usually have one around June but that may be too late for your personal comfort.

In general, I have found that Virgin"s prices to LAS don"t vary THAT much, even during their sales periods.

This is especially true, I believe of their MAN offerings.

For cattle class economy, £800 is a lot. I would expect something in the £5/600 range.

I"d add something else.

I have no personal experience, but try looking at current pricing for Virgin HOLIDAYS.

They seem to offer reasonable value but I don"t know how "customisable" they are regarding hotel choices.

You are WAAAY to far out to get any meaningful results right now. It"s not even worth searching until, at the earliest, March or April.

No harm in looking before that, of course, but even the hotel deals won"t come out until May/June.

I thought the earlier you book the cheaper it is. The air lines work 11 months in advance so I thought booking now would be the cheapest, so your advice would be to wait till the New Year

You would think so but not in my experience.

My experience is 8-6 months in advance.

New Year at the earliest...but if you see a sale at price you are happy with, snap it up.

As an example...

MAN - LAS return, 05/09/13 - 12/09/13

Standard Economy Fare £781

Miles Plus Money Fare £696
Join Virgin Flying Club £0
Buy* 2000 miles  £45
Total - £741

*Or earn them... Play on Virgin Poker, Get a Virgin Credit Card etc.

Not huge saving, especially if you have to buy the miles, but a saving none the less.

Even if you don"t think the saving is worth messing about with, but you are still flying with Virgin, then join the Flying Club anyway before booking and you will earn 5074 miles for future use.

and remember, hotels are much more expensive on Fri and Sat nights*. So keep weekend stays to a minimum.

*Also dearer on public holidays.. do your research.

But then again... these are also the busiest times and when the poker games are at their best!  :P
