Fingers crossed!
« on: November 04, 2012, 12:51:24 PM »
I"ve made Day 2 of the Main Event (£200) of the Rendezvous Festival (in Brighton) this week. I have 170k, the average is about 70K and there are about 45 left from a field of 105. They are paying 12 and the top prize is just over £7k. It went on until 3am last night, which was hard going. Re-start at 3pm today.

I"ll try and keep you posted. Hopefully, I will miss the league tonight (it would mean I will have made the FT!).

Great structure, BTW. We started with 25k in chips and had 1hr levels, without missing many (only 150/300).

I was on a great table last night with James Dempsey and Paul Parker. They were sitting next to each other and taking the piss out of a very pissed-up mate of theirs who had bought in four times! I three bet him at one point and he sighed and showed A4. I couldn"t resist it and showed my 97, and Dempsey/Parker ripped into him for at least 10 minutes. All very funny, although I did feel a bit sorry for him. He just ordered another vodka/lemonade (not convinced by his drink choice).

1st break. Down. 80k, 27 left and the average is 110k. Bit card dead the last 2 hours. Had AQ once (got bluffed off the pot) and had to fold 88 to a short stack all in because I had Dempsey still to act and he had already raised. Dempsey folds too and the short stack shows 64. Hmm. That sort of day. I"m due some hands, so we shall see. I will report back in two hours.

Down to 12. Had a massive bit of luck when UTG raised, I pushed with TT and the BB woke up with KK. I hit a ten on the flop. Now on just under 500k and the average is about 250k. Exciting!

Good luck Joe. Did Deborah make Day 2?

I could have done with you on my table yesterday. The guy on my right made it obvious that he considered himself to be pretty hot at poker, but then he lost four hands in a row where he had raised pre, three to me and one to the guy on my left, and started muttering and passing comments. I suggested that he didn"t like losing and he said that he didn"t mind losing to good players, inferring that this was not currently what was happening, so I was going to send for you. I could see you were a bit busy though.

I can"t see any reason why you shouldn"t go on to win it now. Hope you do.

[If anyone wants to hear about my bad beat, pm me and I"ll send you all the details].

Down to 7, average is 440k and I have about 650k. John - the bloke on your right is now sitting to my immediate right on the FT, so he must have done something right at some point. He is also chip leader and talking about his WSOP experiences!

All very exciting! I"ve got £1,160 locked up.
