I was reading another thread where a new member had asked:
this may sound stupid, but is the irish open- only for irish people?
It got me thinking... Does anybody else think that with the ever growing membership of the APAT that maybe they should change how they hold the tournaments? Surely a way to solve having to participate in a "Clickfest" and ensure that everyone gets a chance to play in an APAT event would be to have only Scottish, English, Irish & Welsh people allowed to play in their respetive opens? Then you could have an end of year tournament with the top 25 from each open playing in a British Open tournament or something???
I know people who seem to get a seat at every event may have objections to this but isn"t one of APAT's main objectives to let players who couldn"t otherwise participate in big tournaments do so for a relatively small fee?
I mean I would LOVE to play in the upcoming Scottish Open and as I cant get onto BSQ my only option would be the clickfest... So I would basically have to sit by my computer and hope to get a seat. Even if I did get a seat I would most definitely not get a chance to buy my friend one too (no net access) so would have to travel alone.
Does anybody else have any opinions on this?
