Collusion...maybe?
« on: November 08, 2012, 05:11:58 AM »
I never point a finger without proof and im probably one of the few that are up this late playing cash but I have noticed something interesting tonight.

There are obviously familiar/regular names that appear at the cash tables and I previously joked on facebook at how quickly the table/waiting list filled whenever I sat down :). On Apat/poker.co.uk there are 3 players in particular that I suspected were colluding but all have their location blanked out.

I played on a different Boss site tonight hoping to catch these guys out and discovered they are ALL located in Sweden + one other guy I had missed.

It cant be coincidence that 4 Swedish players + me are sat at a 6 max cash table at 3am and I lose everytime :/

I feel like a total MUG :(

You should report them & get the situation investigated.
They MUST be cheating to beat you!
Oh, & get to bed earlier.
The harder I work,
The luckier I get.

Such impressions are not impossible and I had it too a couple of times. Wish the support will clarify it. Some rooms annoyed me in the past, very disappointing. :(

I dont want to report anything unless I am sure...or at least a bit surer than I am right now.

I didnt think anything of it when I couldnt see their location on Apat and just assumed you could hide it but was a bit taken back when I logged in on DTD to find they all had Sweden as their location.

We are not talking high stakes here, mostly 12/25c and there abouts but I could imagine it would add up to a fair sum over a long period as they seem to be there whenever I have a look.

LOL @ Bob, I am not a good cash player but I persist in the hope that I will improve :)

this is the VERY reason why you should report it.  If everyone who thought something could be wrong, and spoke up, then a picture is built up....lots of people all can"t be wrong etc.

If you choose not to report it, and everyone did that, they could continue without any repercussions simply because of others not bothering/nothing will change/not too sure....etc etc

Without lowering the tone, or saying its all link or as important in any way shape or form,  but the theory is the same as what is alleged to have happened in the BBC recently!

I had a look last night and 3 of the 4 players I noted were playing.

All 3 were on the same tables, 4 tables of 6 max.

After what Waz has said I have decided to report it, if they are doing nothing wrong then there is no harm done.

Is it that they are targeting you or are they hunting as a group in general?  I"m sure there are controls on most poker sites that show when particular players play on the same table more often than normal so support should be able to back up your theory or not.

More as a group in general. I have noticed if I put in a raise, 2 if not 3 of them will call, I bet on the flop...call, call. Bet the turn, 1 will raise the next one reraises etc and they basically bet me off the pot so even if I have say KK I cant call on a J985 flop for example. All quite normal for a 6max table if it wasnt for them all being from the same country, Sweden is an hour ahead of us as well which makes it even later for them.

Another thing is that they always play bad beat tables. If I recall correctly there has to be 4 players in the pot at the start of the hand (might be wrong there) which is a valid reason for half the table to call any raise.

The problem is that around 3-4am there are not that many players playing cash and a lot of them are regulars so if they were to ban the people playing the same tables regularly there would be no one left :)

It is actually the perfect spot for a group to work and will be tough to spot I think.

On the plus side if you hit a flop hard you get paid off big time ;)

I havent been able to report it yet as the support email link on the site wont let me do it as I dont have their default mail client installed :/

This is not so much collusion, but just a group of guys who know each other and their game. If support looked at HHs they would struggle to spot any wrong doing from a collusive sense.

However, because they know each others game so well they know they can sit at the same tables and put pressure on the rest of the table, meaning you don"t get to see flops cheaply and are squeezed out of most pots with marginal hands that you have 3 bet with. What they are doing is morally repugnant and is the sort of thing that is killing online poker.

This sort of thing happens in cliquey live cash games, where in the old days, they would chop the money up in the car park at the end of the night.

Definitely report it, don"t expect too much help or your money back, but the site may be able to do something about them playing together, because this type of "play" is terrible for business for them.

You have it spot on Rob and you explained it so much better than I did.

I would not expected any cash back or realistically a resolution. It helped saying my thoughts out loud and maybe I will think not just twice but 3 times before I put my cash in the pot.....but.....maybe not coz if I hit that flush draw im Massive :)

Im going to change table and watch how they follow
