WSOP Europe 2008
« on: March 28, 2008, 07:10:42 AM »
Have just started watching the coverage of the 2007 WSOPE on Pokertube and I never realised the event was held over 3 seperate casinos? Surely it"s better and more professional to hold it in the one place? They should hold it in DTD this year. It certainly has the capacity for it... I"m pretty sure I read somewhere that one of the goals of the guy who runs DTD was to hold an EPT event or another major eent there in the future. WSOPE would make sense.

It would make sense from a venue point of view, but I fear part of the appeal for WSOPE for the American superstars is that it is held in London. Its taking them out of their comfort zone enough getting them to leave the You-Ess-Aye, but getting them to go to a "village" outside London may be too much

The WSOP brand is owned by Harrahs, who purchased the London Clubs International casinos that the WSOPE runs in, for $300m in 2006.  While far from ideal as venues for this level of tournament, I think its unlikely Harrahs will place the event elsewhere while they retain ownership of LCI.

The "E" stands for Europe... it may not necessarily be held in this country.

If the E stands for Europe, then it can"t be held in this country!

God Save the Queen, and say NO to the Euro!!

Anyone see Jamie Gold being an ass to the now EPT champ Mike mcdonald.

Jamie limps utg with 33. Mcdonald raises from the button with JJ. Jamie re raises with 33 (he does this move a lot) Mike tanks it but flat calls.

Flop comes 10 high, no 3. Gold checks- Mike bets. Gold moves all in. Mike tanks it once again. Chats to Jamie then makes a great call.

Jamie says "I knw what you had- just thought you"d be good enough to lay it down"

Turn comes a 3! Knocks out McDonald on his 18th bday and instead graciously shaking his hand or saying unlucky comments "that"s what you get for calling with jacks!"

And the guy bleats on and on about his image and TV editing, and how he"s been portrayed.

No wonder he"s the most hated World Champion in recent times and the only one who can"t get a sponsorship deal.
