With the United Kingdom Team Championship at the G Casino, Luton taking place in January 2013, one thing is for certain, the APAT Forum will be able to put forward another strong team to compete against the best.
And with a strong team, you need a strong captain. The APAT Forum has always performed well, and even won the event a few years back with great teamwork and extraordinary captaincy skills.
Whooops, how did that get in there ?
This year will be no exception. When Des, Matt & myself had a discussion around who we would like to approach to take up the challenge of not only selecting 7 APATers to join them in the team, but then captain them all the way to victory, we were unanimous in the player we have selected.
It gives me great pleasure to announce that the captain for the APAT Forum team for the United Kingdon Team Championship will be Carl Pilgrim.
Not only is Carl a huge supporter of APAT, he is a regular poster on the forum, constantly sharing, liking and commenting on our Facebook page, that"s when he"s not posting up some shockingly awful jokes.
Oh, and he"s won a couple of gold medals or something like that this year and at home now prefers to be known as the Current UK and Current European Champion of Amateur Poker. A bit much, but he"s probably earnt it.
What I"m not sure Carl has realised, but he"s about to find out, is that he"s just accepted one of the tougher jobs on the APAT calendar. Although it is a huge honour, it does come with some headaches. There are only 7 spaces to fill, and from my experiences around this job, he"ll be able to fill them many times over.
But, I"ll leave Carl to pop along and let you know how he plans to make that process work.
Congratulations to Carl, we wish him and his chosen team all the best in Luton.
