Urgent: Need Podcasts!
« on: February 17, 2013, 00:31:44 AM »
I"m doing a dreadfully boring job at the moment, but at least I can listen to stuff on my phone.

Any good (and free) podcasts out there that people can recommend? Doesn"t have to be poker based!

Loads. what are you into apart from poker?

I have done a lot of the history ones (WW2, Rome and British history podcast are good).

Freakonomics is very good. If you are into sports the 5live specials may be interesting.

I do like a bit of military history, and did an economics degree - so all sound interesting. Thanks for the inspiration! Anywhere specific to find the history ones?

Cheers guys, is it obvious I"ve never listened to a podcast in my life?

Hopefully my Monday will go nice and smoothly, without me daydreaming too much as my multi-tasking is notoriously rubbish.

Obviously In The Muck (self plug!!) but I also am addicted to Joe Rogans podcast.
He is the commentator from UFC but has some interesting guests and talks about an array of ridiculous stuff. :)

History of Rome-Mike Duncan
20 min episodes starting from Romulus and Remus, very easy listening, only 176 podcasts!!!!try a couple see what you think.

Hardcore history-Dan Carlin
Great if a bit heavy. His style takes a bit of getting used to but I really love them especially the Mongol series.

Answer Me This-Helen and Olly
Light comedy where listeners ask daft questions, over 200 episodes about 30mins each

The infinite monkey cage-Brian Cox and Robert Ince.
 Science/comedy,some interesting stuff.

Mark Kermode and Simon Mayo"s film reviews.
 Ermm film reviews.

Americarnage-Mike Carlson and Nat Combs
American sport, childish and sometimes annoying but some good stuff.
