WHO ARE YOU?

Ian Burnett

POST A PICTURE OF YOURSELF OR A LINK TO ONE (APAT OR OTHER)

WHERE DO YOU COME FROM?

Live in Haworth, West Yorkshire, but originally from Elgin, Scotland.

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF?

Easy going, logical, computer programmer, pretty boring really.

WHAT IS YOUR POKER BACKGROUND?

Been playing just over 10 years. Played on line for a while but got bored and realized that on line play has little in common with live play.

WHAT IS YOUR PLAYING STYLE?

Depends on the situation, but I do have a lot of patience.

WHO IS YOUR FAVOURITE POKER PLAYER AND WHY?

I"d have to say Doyle Brunson - a real gent who"s seen it all, and someone who can take and give a bad beat without the pathetic histrionics.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE ONLINE POKER SITE AND WHAT IS YOUR POKER ID THERE?

Used to be VC, but as I said before, I got bored playing on line a few years ago. Can"t remember what my online ID was.

WHAT ARE YOUR POKER ACHIEVEMENTS?

Used to play cash games on VC, doubling my money each time and then on to a new table.

Live, I was lucky enough to finish 3rd, and take a bronze medal, in the English Amateur Championship in Bolton in season 3. And a silver medal in the English Amateur Championship at Luton in season 4... happy days  ;D

WHAT DO YOU DISLIKE ABOUT LIVE POKER CURRENTLY, THAT YOU WOULD CHANGE?

At the moment nothing, although after I"ve completed this I"m bound to think of something. I suppose to be going on with I could mention the differing rules in different casinos, these could do with standardising.

HOW DID YOU HEAR ABOUT APAT?

Poker Player magazine.

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT APAT TOURNAMENTS, STANDARD OF PLAY AND STRUCTURE?

All my thoughts relating to APAT are so positive you wouldn"t believe ! The standard of play is improving with every event and the structure is pretty much spot on.

HAVE YOU PLAYED AT AN APAT LIVE EVENT AND IF SO, WHAT WAS MOST MEMORABLE ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE?

Played Newcastle, Edinburgh, Dublin and Luton - Season One

Played Walsall, Manchester, Edinburgh and Dublin - Season Two

My season three schedule has been seriously curtailed, but I did play in Bolton. Hopefully, I"ll play more in season 4.

Again, my season 4 schedule has been reduced, but I did play DTD and Luton - 2 fantastic venues.

Obviously being able to play with and against a large number of good (and in many instances, great) poker players is an enjoyable experience, improving my game along the way. And it"s those same people that make the APAT events what they are, enjoyable and fun. There are a lot of egos in poker, but thankfully they don"t appear at APAT events.

My circle of friends has increased greatly due to these events.

WHAT ARE YOUR MAIN INTERESTS OUTSIDE OF POKER?

Fishing, photography, mountain biking and music - I"m a sound engineer for a late 70"s punk tribute band called So It Goes. The link at the side should take you to the web site.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE BOOK OR FILM?

Any Tom Clancy novel and The Great Escape

WHAT THREE MUSIC ALBUMS WOULD YOU TAKE TO A DESERT ISLAND WITH YOU?

Animals - Pink Floyd
London Calling - The Clash
Abba Gold - Abba

FINALLY, WHAT MESSAGE WOULD YOU LIKE TO LEAVE FOR YOUR FELLOW APAT MEMBERS?

It"s been great meeting you and playing with you at the tables in seasons one, two and three, let"s keep supporting this great organization, called APAT, in the forthcoming seasons.

See you at the tables.
