APAT Masters travelling players
« on: May 05, 2013, 18:14:24 PM »
Just a thought for those of you travelling to Wembley for the APAT Masters in June.

Wembley isn"t the nicest area to stay in and many football supporter clubs use Gerrards Cross and Beaconsfield as a base when coming for big events. Both towns are on the British Rail Chiltern Line which stops at Wembley Stadium and it takes a max of 25 mins from Beaconsfield and 20 from GX.

There is a new mototway service station at Beaconsfield (http://motorwayservicesonline.co.uk/Beaconsfield), which has an Ibis Hotel on site at £35 per night, as well as a 24hr McDonalds, M&S Food, KFC, Starbucks as well as half a dozen other outlets. It would also be easy to organize a team mini-bus or coach if necessary.

Hi Curly

I"ve just reserved my place for this, and I think the travel suggestion from Gerrads Cross is good. I think the last train from Wembley back to Gerrards Cross is something around 12.30am - which doesn"t allow much post-match drinking time for those who want to indulge. The minibus to the Beaconsfield Services would be an option allowing for more drinkage - assuming the facilities at Wemberley remain open till late??

Please keep me posted if there"s any movement in travel plans from our neck of the woods.

Cheers
Phil

Just booked into the Beaconsfield hotel at the services (£42 a night for the room), Can you let me know the plans closer to the time if you are arranging a mini bus or other travel?

Just Cancelled my Wembley Ibis booking and now booked at The Ethorpe Hotel GX.

Happy to share a minibus for the Saturday return.

What time do we need to be at the stadium?

Ethorpe is perfect, but that much more expensive as it"s right near the station. Let me know when you in Del as we might well use this as Friday drinking hole.
