Like Brian .. Nice to see the champions of champions brought back.. Brian suggested prehaps holding an event with all past champions, sounds great to me  ;D.. or failing that what about inviting those back who have been crowned champions since the last CoC held a couple of seasons ago, so gives those who havent had a chance to play in such a prestigious event?  ;)

Im sure it wouldnt mean that many more entrants into the field, and the awesome prize being offered would make for some great poker!! (pretty please xx)

How can it be something that has been brought back from a few seasons ago? Brian only suggested it 18 months ago?

;)

Hehe Stu yeah silly me didnt want to hijack Brians "new" concept..

Joking aside.. when was the last CoC?.. and since the last how many new inducuctions has there been?.. seems that quite a few may of missed out in playing this event, i must admit i was pretty gutted that there wasnt one last season at the WCOAP or other event.. As Rob has stated its not so much about the added value its the bragging rights, if there was a prize or trophy thrown into the mix all the better  ;D

Season 4 at Bolton? When Betfair were sponsoring and gave away a £20k sponsorship package to the winner.

Yes this is correct. The Betfair sponsorship was awesome, there has been nothing like it before or since. Has there ever been a CoC other than this though? The event itself was a 16 man sitngo, too be fair looking back it would have been better at the wcoap, so this is a good shout.

I definitely don"t think we need an event for all Champions since though, not at all. I don"t see any reason to give away further added value to people who have already benefited from it. If there is extra added value available (and let"s be fair there is already a significant amount given away with trips to Vegas to be won) then allow everybody to benefit from it not just a few, give it to the overall rankings winner imo.

The COC is for winners of live and online, if you have all from Season 1 to Season 7 then the numbers will be big, in season one alone (if my memory is right) they was over 20 online champions (me being one of them :)) I was also the online champion that year but they was no added value. Plus the last COC was only for that season and no other champions was include from previous seasons, so you cannot include champions from season 5 and 6.

The added value is an interesting question, as is CoC.

We"ve given away thousands in free entries to everything from the WSOP main event to GPS over the years, but with very few exceptions I don"t think the winners have benefitted massively from attending, experience aside.

I was very pro sending all winners to the WCOAP last year but we decided against at the last minute. The theory in doing it this year is that having all of our main event champions under one roof for one very special event, while not necessarily offering the cash first prize of a GPS or UKIPT, will create a very prestigious event that champions can look forward to through the season, with a Vegas trip added to serious bragging rights the prize. I can see this event being the live stream of Friday night and the most popular of all time.

The content it creates will be superb and it is in this context that a CoC works for me. I wasn"t a fan of the lets get all old champs back as Brian suggested. Perhaps in our tenth year we may have an anniversary special.

Agreed that a Champion of Champions event with this years winners will be good. I don"t think that one bringing back all the previous winners would be that great though, Season"s 5 and 6 are done, let them be. Also I was not playing before season 4 but I don"t think there was a Champion of Champions before this so it was a one off event (and I hardly noticed it after Warren knocked me out in about 5 hands *lol*) Correct me if I am wrong. Yes having all the champions there in Bolton was good though. Being at DTD would only make it better.

Also I think the winners have benefited a lot from the added value. The experience of one of those larger events is a huge benefit in itself.

I Play on and off in Leeds and I normally start a conversation about APAT, most of the time I just get blank looks, they have no idea what I"m talking about, yes there are some who play APAT games but the biggest  % of players have never heard of APAT. I have also played in Sheffield and it"s the same response. The only thing I can come up with as why APAT have not come to Leeds or Sheffield is that it"s only 1/1.5 hours away from DTD but that"s only if you live in South Yorkshire, Yorkshire is a big county and is well overdue a APAT game. The Genting in Sheffield is perfect for a APAT game

I believe that this is the case in the past because none of the casino in Yorkshire want to hold a APAT if they would im sure APAT would have held a comp there as I know they have tried
And I agree with what you say when you start a conversation about APAT that you just get a blank look then asked what APAT

I visited Genting in Sheffield for the first time on Friday and was very impressed. Given that they have help GPS events there with large fields I"m sure they could cope with an APAT event.

Hope this can happen in season 8. Lets start the campaign now - BRING APAT TO YORKSHIRE  ;D

I wouldn"t mind a trip to Yorkshire and I"m sure they could cope but will they do it for the price APAT are willing to pay?

I"m pretty sure there isn"t a casino in the country that wouldn"t run APAT these days and be very happy to have got one. It"s figuring which ones to drop that"s the real issue.

And there"s the rub... really can"t argue about any of the chosen venues, they"re all spot on.

No, a season"s CoC has only been run once before Carl, in season four.  This would be the second.  It"s possibly something that could become a fixture going forward, particularly given the success of the APAT Awards at DTD last WCOAP.  It makes sense to really encourage all of our champions to go to the WCOAP, for a season ending finale - and in that respect, this is very much a first.
