That looks spot on Des.  Gives everyone something to play for and retains the strong team element as well.

Looking forward to it.

seems pretty fair to me Des. I think retaining the individual"s aspirations until the end is a positive thing.

thanks for the quick attention to the matter. I will run through it with my team-ates and post in the captain"s section.

BTW, i know top 50 count on scores is there a points structure or is it a flat 1-50 points for respective places?

sorry to be a pain
Looking forward to making my first day 2

The points structure will be a straight 1 to 50.

May i suggest you put this new proposal, for the 20 team captains to vote on? (is there time?) as it seems only a few have questioned the proposed format.

There seems to have been slight confusion as to the wording of the pre-brief post.

Worringly for me Des i interpreted how you intended it! :o

I don"t think we should go down the vote route unless a team objects, and thus far no team has.  We will post the payout structure within the captains thread also.

Much more palatable. Would be an arse if 9 members of a team capitulated, but one member finished 2nd.... he/she would win nothing (other than side bets) and that isn"t really what the game is about, even if it is primarily a team event.  Giving the opportunity to at least win back the entry fee and cover hotel costs is ideal.

Awesome!

Kudos to the APAT guys for getting this addressed so quickly. Very impressive  ;D. Very nice to see an organisation that listens to its members.

Really looking forward to this! See you guys there!

Des,

I know you"ve said that in the spirit of the game there is to be no soft playing or collusion however with the money being quite significant isn"t this going to be an issue in the tourney?

Are there gonna be any special rules in place to ensure this doesn"t happen?

I think the fact there are individual prizes makes collusion less likely (and less beneficial to those who"d be tempted).

But I"d be interested to hear what else can be done to prevent/reduce collusion.

I"d also be interested in what sort of collusion people are/could be worried about in this tournament.

I"d be less worried about collusion- more about soft playing.

If you"re in the final 50 and one of your team members moves in for 10 big blinds- u look down at AK- fold? The temptation to soft play is going to be there.

I know when DTD had their first team event they had certain rules when team members played pots together. I think u were on my table Dan when Raj Dhiri was made to call Paul Jackson"s all in with any 2 cards

Outright collusion, no.

As for so called "soft play", it must be remembered that this event is unlike any other APAT event, it is a TEAM event so, notwithstanding what Des said, I think that this is an element of a team event.

Granted there is a fine line but given the MTT nature and structure we are using, how else to you have "team play"?

In any case, how would you police it? I"m not going to show the AK I might have folded to a teammates push and to make me call with any 2 cards is unfair to me (and perhaps to others at the table) especially if, through no fault or mine I happen to be sitting at the same table behind him.

If APAT can come up with a method of ensuring that teammates don"t sit at the same table then let"s have at it. A lot of work if they can.

The individual prizes are there, IMO, to make the event worthwhile for those players who may not have a chance at a team prize (for whatever reason) but still have a shot at an individual prize beause they outlasted their teammates.

Surely if it"s a team event you have to help out your fellow team members whenever possible?

As far as I"m concerned as long as players aren"t discussing what they are going to do then there"s no problem. All teams should sort their tactics out before the event starts and then they don"t need to discuss things during hands.

I"d be really shocked if someone"s team mate raised them out of a dry sidepot with nothing instead of checking down to knock someone out.

It"s a TEAM event. You have to play as a team. I for one will do everything I can to help a team mate as long as it doesn"t jeapardise me. What I won"t be doing is discussing things during the tournament. That would be out of order. The team that wins will be the one who have their tactics sorted out before the event starts and can use circumstances to their advantage.

If you are the BB against a short stacked team mate in the SB then I think you"d be wrong to call their push to try to knock them out.

And if you don"t then you"re stupid  :)

BTW if I"m told before the event that this is not allowed then I will not do it. As far as I"m aware at the moment though it"s a team event so anything goes.

Oh one more thing. I"m in Faliraki and it"s 45 degrees  ;D

....and I think that is the point of the question. So you would do anything huh? What about if you"re chip leader and can afford a few chips, and you have a short stacked team mate at the table..... would you dump a few chips on him to keep him in the game?    That wouldn"t be collusion, but would be soft play, and would be a pretty poor show!
