Nobody is sure yet.

We"ll just have to wait until Monday.

Not ideal but there we are.

Des I understand your frustration, I do, but as I frequently say to people who ask me for hand advice after they have been snap called on the river by bottom pair - look past your frustration and try and see the situation from the other guys point of view.

I"m not convinced that you are fully aware of the hoops many APAT"ers have to jump through in order to plan ahead and participate in such great events. When Season Seven was first announced I took a snapshot of the schedule. I looked back at it yesterday. Other than the main event being over Easter weekend it bears hardly any resemblance to what is currently on the table (I won"t post it as I don"t want to confuse any casual observers). Not only that in the past fortnight or so, fully 6 months later, we are still seeing tinkering with the start times, schedules and even the events to be played within the team event. All of these "minor" decisions may or may not effect an individuals decision of whether to play. As such, whilst things constantly change, it is very tough to commit any planning effort or £££"s to the event.

Your initial statement regarding Monday said:

On Monday evening you can expect to see a revised list of events as we"re looking to add an "Antes Only" Championship into the schedule.

It does not say "don"t worry - we won"t be changing any start times of anything else we will just be squeezing in this extra event". Having seen start times change and being promised by Tom that everything is still being looked at how can I plan for this event? I do not have the BR to play every event so was never expecting to play from beginning to end. This January I have seen hotel sale offers come and go but cannot comfortably book anything whilst things are still in flux. And now another weekend will go by without knowing the final schedule.

I feel the economy is a bit worrying, the jobs situation also....but I don"t believe APAT adding an event to a festival late in the day, or changing our position on side event reservation should be described as worrying.

I disagree. I cannot book anything for WCOAP (unless I commit to Tues to Mon) without worrying that something will change regarding my chosen events. That is all I meant by my post and I accept that you are allowed to blow off at times but TBH I"ve seen far worse recently than my original comment below, which I stand by:

For future reference could you please just announce finalised lists of events? It"s tough enough to plan ahead for poker over Easter at this relatively late stage without the goal posts constantly moving. All this tinkering is very worrying.

oooo heck, i just found myself agreeing with Andy Duncan.  ;)

Well written post Andy, and hopefully Des will get gist and meaning. It was a bit unpleasant this morning, but I was able to see both sides.

I also have not booked any holiday from work or paid hotel reservations yet - I"m only playing selective events, and until the final list of events is published, I can"t make commitment.  That said, until buy in is open, I would always say that the list is "draft"...  and the fact that the tinkering is being done partly as a reaction to posts made on this forum with suggestion for improvement, I actually welcome the flexibility.

Yep, thanks for that Andrew and I guess part of my frustration stems from the point that I agree with a lot of what you say above.  We"re adding massive complexity to what we"ve had in previous years without necessarily having the resource in place to deliver it faultlessly - and that pains me.

I"ve said to the guys that we need to step off the throttle a little bit for S8 so that we can address overall quality.

Anyway, no offence intended earlier.

Quite often things change late in the day because Des and APAT are too willing to listen to the membership! Many a time I have found myself shaking my head and saying why have they decided to do this at this stage. FWIW I believe that decisions once made should be stuck to, and if it upsets a minority then tough. Andy is right in wanting to know where he stands in relation to the WCOAP, and realistically an event happening in April really should be nailed down by now.
All this never affects me because I can"t make decisions about whether I can play until the last minute anyway, that resulted in me playing Stud a few years back because that was the only event with space left and I wanted to be part of the event!
So lets all pick our toys up and play nice  :)

I just want to say thank you Des for the great organisation! I know how hard it is to organize a single event with 50players so the wcoap is a really though thing - chapeau....

My last question before monday is, if somebody can tell me what i need for reservation/direct buy inn - credit card, an online poker account, an eventbrite account, payoal or something like this

We"ve finalised our WCOAP partnership arrangement and it is our understanding that we will be able to offer an online buy in on all events from Monday night.  That is, the events have been briefed and it has been confirmed that they will be available, but we tend to like to see them in place before we actually confirm that to you.

We won"t mention who our partner is at this point as you will need to sign up with them via an APAT code to be able to see the events in their lobby.

We will also offer seat reservation on the Main Event for anyone who doesn"t want to pay the full buy in up front.

I can also confirm the finalised schedule of events now, with the addition on one event (Antes Only) and some minor changes in timings on a couple of others, in line with general player feedback.

Hi Roddy,

On Monday night we"re going to have holding tanks for all events via an online poker partner.  We"ll initially also offer reserved seats in the main event.  We"ll hold off on offering seat reservation on the side events until the following weekend.

Look forward to catching up in London.

Really want to play most days but can"t overly commit as work situation is unknown.

Went to school in Stratford, accommodation sorted at no cost, not a happy boy.

The numbers are mostly capped and I expect most events to sell out...

Is there anyway I can Reg (pay) and then unregister if I can"t make the events?

I don"t mind a reservation fee of £5 for main event, but £25+reservation fees for the schedule I"m thinking of is too much.

Also, what happens if you buy into 2 events on the same day and you are still in the 1st event when the second starts. Can you un-reg from the 2nd event? (obviously prior to it starting).

Just trying to determine my available options.

Thanks J.
