Thanks Asa.

Basically my budget was anything that was a hotel (i.e. not a hostel), as cheap as possible.

That Travelodge deal is the best I have seen. Obviously have the option to share as well.

Will TELL the missus tonight THAT I AM GOING!!

I have been quite concerned by the warnings of possible violence in Stratford. I don"t want a repeat of what happened in Luton, so I have taken a course in English Fighting which, I hope, has prepared me to defend myself. I enclose a clip, which may be helpful for anyone who doesn"t have time to get to classes.

I hope to have the information posted in the next couple of days, with the satellites taking place next week.

Satellites will take the following form:

£11 + £1.10. 1 seat in the Main Event for every 10 runners. Winners will receive a "Main Event" token, so they can select which day to play.

£5.50 + £0.55. 1 seat in a Side Event for every 10 runners. Winners will receive a "Side Event" token, so they can select from any of the side events.

Day-wise, in order to not clash with the upcoming National Online League (launch 2nd March, more info to follow very soon), I"m thinking of setting aside Wednesday evenings instead.

What about those who have already bought in...can we cash out the tokens?

If you"ve already bought in, you"d be able to unregister from the holding tank which will give you the cash back for that. Then re-register using the token instead.

I think it would make sense to set aside certain days of the week for certain types of games, and sticking to them moving onwards.

e.g.
Wednesday = satellite night.
Thursday = cash game night (if I"m ever able to get our private tables set up! Have just nudged my POC for third time re: this).
Sunday = National Online League / National Online Cup.

Of course, there will be some who say "Why Wednesdays? That"s the day I go to bingo" (or similar), but it"s obviously impossible to please everyone.

The violence of East London has been over exaggerated by the likes of Plan B etc... there are areas that can be a bit rough and ready but the casino is based within Westfield, the most middle class shopping centre in the world and even if you venture a lot further outside East London is much more fashionable with art students than gangsters these days so unless you look for it the chances of getting into any trouble are very slim.

As for the cost of London, Paulie has found some great deals on the hotels and your biggest expense will be in the casino (no free drinks) A small glass of flat warm coke will set you back £1.70 and a can of red bull is £3.30... having said that food is quite decent and the cardroom is huge and the staff (barring the waitresses) are excellent.

Hope to see you all in Stratford.

Simon

Satellites are now live, and registration open. The first satellites start at 8pm and 8.30pm tomorrow night (Main Event & Side Event satellites). See: http://www.apat.com/forum/index.php?topic=15110.0 for full details.

They are running every Wednesday from this week until 26th March. Please can everyone show their support and play a few. The funky "token" aspect means that rather than set up 14 different Side Event satellites each week, we"ve been able to set up just one a week. Hopefully that means we"ll get 14 times as many runners! :D

Hi all.

Am new here. I"ve registered for event #1 on the Coral page. On the day do I have to do anything at the cash desk or do I just rock up and take my seat?
