Hi,  Just completed my own garage conversion Poker room..and was looking for some opinions on the best struture.

We play for around 5 -5.5hrs, and normal 6 or 7 of us.   Any offers on the best structure to implement.  I need to ensure good player is rewarded, and it doesn"t become a crapshoot to quickly.  Ps /  Our standard is not high.

Sounds like one of my home games. With 6 / 7 players we play 7k starting stack and raise the blinds every rotation.

Standard is not high either so the first out are happy that each game only lasts around 60/80 minutes.

There"s a reasonable amount of play in the early stages - the crapshoot starts at 500/1k if there are still 5 of 7 players in.

cheers luky. Appriecate it.  We normal try to get to get 2 games in the 5-5.5hrs..and have played with 15min blinds....2 games ensure no-one sits out after a possilbe early exit..for the rest of the night...

As I said, the above format gets you about 5 games in 6 hours - it"s like a night of Sit "n" Gos. With 4 novices and 3 decent players, I"d recommend you reduce the Buy-In to accommodate the bankrolls and try it even if it"s just for one game or even one night. Unless you have lots of toys for folk to play with when they go out, I think you"ll find it"ll go down pretty well.

Caz and I play in a regular 8 player league - usually 7 turn up, including 4 APAT regulars.

Last year we played two games a night with a 30 minute clock, 10,000 starting chips and blinds of:-

The night (with 2 games) would usually last about 7 hours.

This year we"ve changed the structure somewhat, as last years structure was considered, quite rightly, a little akin to bingo from level 3 onwards.

We"ve retained the 30 minute clock and starting stack of 10,000, but changed the blinds to be more in line with APAT.

We"ve found that this has improved the level of play, but does mean we only get one game in on a night, usually lasting just over 5 hours.

I run a Poker League at my local footie club with an average of 24 runners with all players being fairly experienced. Starting stacks are 4000.

Our structure, with 15 min blinds, is as follows:

The tourney normally lasts between 4/5 hours.

Just by increasing the stacks to 5000 and 20 min levels you can put another couple of hours onto this.

My mate runs the best home game in Leicester and we have following structure for 10 players and get two games done in around 5-6 hours:

We gave up playing tourneys in our home game as the same players were out first every time and losing interest when they had to wait 90 mins to play again...... so we started playing cash....... and personally I think it is much better this way

In case you are interested........5000k chips...15min blinds...with 150 / 300 !! hehe.

played 2 games in just under 5hrs...Oh I came 3rd and 2nd..prize structure was

7 players (£15 per game)

1st - £60
2nd - £30
3rd - £15
