I think this has to be one of only a few ways to get a chart going north on Stars. Sadly mine points south, sharply.

Hey Rob,

Good going on completing the challenge, i"ve often thought, oh i"ll play 180 of the 180 man tournaments on stars and then play a few and realise there"s more to be made elsewhere. My next project should be to get my stars sharkscope back in the black, but who am i kidding :-)

In terms of buy-in i"d say that you still need 20-30 buy-ins minimum. You never want to have more than 5% of your roll on the table at once and even though they pay 50% of the field there"s nowt to stop you going on a nasty downswing in these, so imo 10 buy-ins would be madness.

Also 15% roi isn"t too shabby.

...
This certainly fixed the losing problem and I had an ROI of 20% for the second half of this challenge, giving me 15% for the hundred games.
...

I got too bored to get to a 100 with these, I was trying it on the $10 ones and ended up with an ROI of around 12% so that"s fairly consistent.

I might give them another go in a while and see if I can improve on that but for the time being I need to rebuild my bankroll on Stars after having some HU"s mishaps.

(Here"s a hint - if you"re up against someone ranked in the top 15 on Sharkscope - it"s best just to walk away and look for an easier fight  :-[ )

new challenge!!

I was going to play a load of MATRIX tourneys on Full tilt, but have abandoned that, due mainly to the fact they seem unpopular and take ages to fill up!

I did however look at my Full tilt sharkscope and was not surprised to find that it was in the red, but horrified to find I had an ROI of -42%!! This was mainly due to playing 90 man turbos with no success.

So my new challenge is to grind this into the black!!! I will do this playing 9 man $5 STTs or $6 turbos. I expect to be successful, so its not really a challenge, just a point of restoring some pride to my limp looking graph. I expect to pass my 100th game with an ROI >20% so will be sure to post my fish status too!!

Thanks for the wishes everyone. Geneva was fun (but expensive!!) but sadly no swiss franc cash games were going on at the Casino Du Lac, in fact no poker anywhere in Switzerland as the Montreux Casino didn"t do poker either.

So it was good old "vin chaud" and Fondue plus of course the company of Mrs S.

BLOG REVIVAL - NEW FORMAT

I"m giving this another go, but am changing the format. Instead of putting posts that, whilst maybe interesting, are too long, I"m going for short and regular posts with maybe the odd epic post thrown in for good measure. I will call it the IDriveTractors Formula (and that has been a resounding success) and hope you enjoy it. Feel free to join in.

Last few months I have been playing STTs on partypoker. This is probably for similar reasons that Simon plays on Betfair, in that the games are soft and I make my most money on the site.

This is despite the fact that the software is rubbish and unreliable, the choice of games and the structure of the MTTs are very poor and the customer service is laughable.

However since playing on PP, I have been making a steady profit grinding out STTs with the two small field wins in MTTs thrown in for good measure.

As for my challenge on getting my sharkscope graph in the black on Full Tilt.....well I ultimately failed.
Instead of getting it to look V shaped I had to settle for some thing looking like a square root sign flipped left to right (ie it was V shaped but not finished - If anyone finds it on sharkscope they"ll know what I mean ???) I no longer subscribe to sharkscope as PP doesn"t log STTs.

I did manage to avoid fish status when I hit 100 games and then proceded to get bored with the challenge after that...giving up soon after

Anyway, tonight I am playing in the GUKPT national league on BSQ tonight. The games have great banter, if not the same value as last year and who knows, I may win a GUKPT seat :o

Stroke of genius that Rob, I like your style. I wonder whether I should be taking out a patent?
One friendly word of advice though.........Don"t ever, under circumstances mention poetry. You"ll regret it if you do.
