Aintree is proving to be a classic meeting for me.

2 places and 3 winners ( 10/1, 6/4 and 50/1!!!) from 7 races

ROI for the meeting is 172%

Lets hope I can score in the big one tomorrow!

Am on Easter hols and now and time for lots of poker you may be thinking?? Wrong!!

I have my mother visiting this week so its golf, shopping and sightseeing and once she has gone then I am off to Hamburg to watch MCFC in the QF of the UEFA cup. I"m really excited about this as I"ve never been to a European away tie before and cant think when another opportunity may present itself in the near future. Oh...I am excited about my mum visiting too ;D ;D

After the jubilation of the first 2 days of the Aintree festival where I was picking winners for fun, I drew a blank on the Saturday, save for State of Play in the Grand National which I had EW.

as for my "bet" with Louis. I had one of my horses placed, whereas he had none, so I think I won it. He may claim that his ran better overall, so I"ll call it a draw :-\

I did say that the trends could be busted this year and it may be a year for the "stick a pin in it" brigade. 100 to fecking 1 and it romped it as well (could have done another lap)

Mon Mone winning felt like getting 2 outerd on the river. Unexpected but I soon got over it!! ;D

ROI for the three days was still a satisfying +66% though, so cant complain

The hamburg trip was quality. Hamburg is a top place with no shortage of places to indulge in beer and bratwurst.

The atmosphere at the game was fantastic. The HSH Nordbank arena was a superb stadium. Luckily hamburg were asleep in the first minute gifting us a nice early lead. The rest of the game was one way traffic and thanks to Given we are just about still in the tie.

So 3-1 down after the first leg, with our superb home form.....should be a walk in the park (I"m not counting that display against fulham yesterday)

I was with the wife for this trip, so visited Reeperbahn during the day. All I can say is that, having visited the docks earlier, I understand why Hamburg has the biggest red light district in europe. :P

Should I go pro??

Only kidding, but I have made 4 final tables in 3 days. Admittedly, they were in small field tourneys on PP (and two of those were shootouts) but have had a very good return on investment since I've been on my Easter hols.

My other really good month this year was in January and most of that was when I was on Chrimbo hols at the start of that month.

So I am seeing a correlation between poker success and holiday periods. So why don't I take a permanent holiday and play poker instead?? A few simple reasons.

1)   I'd never earn enough playing poker at the stakes I play.
2)   I love my job too much to quit anyway

What I should really be concentrating on is thinking about why I don't do as well at the virtual felt when I'm not on my hols.

I suppose the main reasons are tiredness and the pressure of squeezing in the odd hour to play the odd game without upsetting the good lady, who to be fair, is very supportive of my hobby (especially when I get a big score :-\)

Anyway, in matters away from the felt, it is the opening day of the county championship in the cricket season. It is also the start of Whalley Range CCs 2020 season, so I'm off to stretch out my hamstrings!!  :o

Remember to stretch and hold, don"t bounce!! Barnoldswick CCs season starts on Saturday hence non attendance in the Irish Sats, will only be able to play if we win/lose early!! Having said that I can"t see it being a run fest the wicket is very soft, so built for the dibbly dobblys and the spinners.
