Sorry Ger, but advertising is a fact of life, and if you are in business a necessity, my company spends £1000s a year on advertising, and without it my business would not be able to support my family and the 65 people we employ. Don"t get me wrong, I would much prefer to pocket that advertising budget or pay my staff a few more quid a week, but the necessity to advertise my wares, and their prices is a business fact.
Some styles of advertising are a bit near the knuckle and some are incredibly crass, but I am afraid it is here to stay, and some forms of advertising are brilliant, just think about how clever those Guiness adverts have been, hmmm beer!

I often have a little thought now and again.....

Some companies proberly don"t have to advertise now..McDonalds, Coca-Cola, Nike, to name but 3.

Combine these companies Ad budgets for say a year......

a) would the brand suffer that much in a year with no form of advertising

b) money saved...provide for charities, etc.

Advert for adversity -making the world a better place.

kind nice slogan too, not that I"m advertising the fact!  :)..

those 3 you named, have a strong global brand presence in a saturated market and they maintain growth. They do so because they consistently advertise and innovate, if they didn"t they would fade, you need people constantly thinking of the brand to make it a success, compare the meerkat for example is a huge campaign in a saturated market, it makes the difference.

but this is kind of my point...the 3 mentioned have such a global presence, I"d argue that they don"t need to advertise any longer.....Maybe Mc"d of the 3 wouldn"t as they have the "M" and actual site building we all see every day.

The meerkat, is a new idea for a relatively unknown website....they hit the jackpot with the concept...genuis that it is,

No advertising wouldn"t make anyone forgot about Mc"d, or i personally think Coca-cola too..Nike maybe a different prospect, as theroritcally it re-brands itself everytime it makes a new shoe.

But too further my point I"m not talking never again advertise, but just for a year.....would it make that much difference

Advert for Advertisy campaign starts here..........
