Waz:

Gerrard isn"t VC, Rio is. If Capello decides he has to get rid of Terry, then his only options in the dressing room are Rio as VC, Rooney as most liked player or maybe Lampard. Gerrard (and I am a devoted Liverpool fan) is too introverted to be England captain. We need a captain who can drive the team when things are going bad. Look at Terry for Chelsea compared to Gerrard for Liverpool.

Rio won"t be captain because of his history and his current inability to be fit. Rooney will never be captain of England because, well, do I even need to spell that one out? As for Lampard, he could be captain, but would he want to take over from his best mate?

What John Terry does in his private life is exactly that, private. It sickens me the way the media intrude into these people"s lives. Yeah, they may earn xxx per week but they earn that for doing their job. JT is a professional footballer, not a professional shagger.

Sorry, just re-read the Rooney bit, I"m solely referring to his penchant for elderly women.

"The Football Association has declined to comment on the future of John Terry as England captain in the wake of allegations over his private life."

Forgive me but what the feck does the fact that he was knocking another woman have to do with his ability to play football. I"m not a great fan of John Terry (or the England football team  ;D ) but talks of him resigning his position are laughable.

replies on a postage stamp

All to do with the respect that comes with the captain"s position, more than his playing ability.  It is a position of respect, how many school kids look up to him, and upto the English Captain.  What role model is he with his actions to young kids.

Position untenable as England Captain.

I take your point, but to be honest how many footballers these days can be counted as role models - very few I should think, if the press is to be believed...

Sorry Waz, but what you say is a load of rubbish. The player that is being touted to replace him is Wayne Rooney!

Why is it rubbish Sharpea?...That the England Captain isn"t a role model for school kids? Or That a Premier league footballer isn"t looked upto by 90% of boys kicking around the playground?...or That Wayne Rooney is touted for the Captain??..(If the latter then I agree!)

It will be (If Terry is ousted a Capt) Steven Gerrard as he is vice captain.  Rooney isn"t even captain of his household, let alone England!!! lol

You"re having a laugh Waz. John Terry has never been a role model for anything, so nothing has really changed in that regard.

never said John Terry himself was a role model, but any pro footballer, or the actual England Captain"s position is a role model..that fact that they all fuk it up at some point, it still remains they are role models, and should behave as such.

Much the same as a school teacher, or a childrens TV presenter, or policeman....all have privates lives, but due to the position they hold in society they have a duty to uphodl the position the hold...and as such should live what society deems a respectable life....I"m not agreeing with it all, as everyone deserves privacy, but there jobs are as such and they know that, and should act accordingly.

apologies Sharplea...rio is vice not Stevie...i stand corrected

A huge thank you is overdue to all the people who voted for these set of pages in the recent poll on APAT.

I am humbled that you not only read this disjointed set of posts but that you took the time to vote as well.

It's not really a poker blog, it's a rash of brain dumps and rants and I am flattered that some find it interesting enough to read.

Thank you for voting.......

Congratulations Ger.

We like it the way that it is, your occasional post about poker gives us a hope that there are still fish out there ;)

The rest is pure genius!

Although the recollection is hazy I always thought that, when I was at school, there were 5 continents. The wee man says he was taught there were 7.

My 5 were (I vaguely remember being told it was why there are 5 rings on the Olympic logo)
Americas, Asia, Europe, Australia and Africa.

They also start and end with the same letter. (So does Antarctica which is one of the wee man's 7)

So how many are there ?
