This weekend is coming early and as Stu says one more sleep until I head for the North East for a few days of cultural excellence and enlightenment. To say I look forward to meeting good friends is a massive understatement and it will be a thrilling few days. Home game fun, darts, pool, rugby on tv it doesn't get much better.

Thursday 7th February 2013
I awoke looking forward to the trip to Yarm and its environs. I had decided to take the train and was glad that I did. It was a lovely journey and all to time. The chuckle brothers were on hand at Darlington station to pick me up and after a quick check in we were on our way to the Eagle. A goodly few pints later we were joined by Phil TC and a couple more denizens of the area and we proceeded to have a few more.

After this sterling preparation for the esteemed home game we set off for the casino. The home game went to plan, the plan being shove and see and I saw. Or at least Phil TC saw Q 6 and as that hand is of course the nuts he called my J J and proceeded to hit a flush. Couple more inspired bets and I was on my way downstairs. I played a wee bit of 3 card poker before joining the cash table which if I recall was very good to me and not so good to Poker Pops... No idea of the time I left but I made it back safely to the hotel.

Friday 8th February 2013.
I awoke at the reasonable hour of 1pm and got ready for a trip back to the Eagle. I landed too late for breakfast with most of them but the chuckle brothers were of course in attendance. It transpired that chuckle 1 had annoyed everybody in the casino the previous night and was busy cutting and pasting apologies to his entire mobile phone contact list. While chuckle 2 met with some policemen and was taken home in a police car ... It was decided that we would not attend the casino but indulge in a good session of imbibing and I was in my pit at a reasonable hour after making plans for meeting in the centre of Yarm for a few beers and watch the Rugby.

Saturday 9th February 2013.
The awakening process was tinged with sadness at the news of Phil TC's mother passing away. All our thoughts and prayers are with Phil at this sad time. I headed into the bowels of Yarm and found the chuckle brothers in the Black Bull where after a restorative couple of beers and some Shropshire chicken in garlic I was back to my imperious best. After the rugby, as some degenerates were playing the £100 pounder in the casino, we headed in that direction for a laugh. The G have this new game of blackjack called 22 where the dealer pushes if he hits 22 but you get free doubles and splits. It is the spawn of the devil so I headed over to the 3 card poker and played and drank a few more medicinal beverages and ended up a few measly shillings at the end of the session. Retiring to my humble hostelry at not too silly an hour I slept well and took the Iron Horse back to Chester the following day.

It was as ever a pleasing trip and always good to meet great friends to have a good time. Roll on March 21st...

Nice trip report Ger, though I feel you may have glossed over the rugby slightly.

Now just a minute, nobody said we had to play darts on an Invasion weekend.... Darts?

Do you know how bad I am at Darts? I will look like a complete idiot trying to play you lot of sharks in March.

I of course mean the plasticine people in the advert - not that there are plasticine people in my house - although that is a distinct possibility  8)
