Ger, are you on an uncapped package or it is a certain speed. Does the speed change much during peak times?

fwiw Leigh Infinity does not offer fiber to the house, it is fiber to the cab, and copper to the house so sometimes it is available where you would not expect it to be (I assume you have already checked though). The copper to the house does not slow it down much.

Still trying to think of something amusing to write in this bit.

Allegedly uncapped - but have noticed when checking that it dips to around 21mbps in the early evening - but that is still slick

Yep - that"s a good speed for peak times to be fair.

Copper can delivery just over 100mb, but the speed degrades over distance. Pre fibre, the copper run was all the way from the exchange to the house via cabinets and junctions, and we would only get a very small bandwidth at the house. In places where full fibre is not available, the FTTC (Fibre To The Cabinet) solution is awesome - it runs fibre throughout the backbone network between exchange and cabinets, then copper from cabinet to the house. If someone has a cabinet right outside their house, they are likely to receive 100mb....we live around 250 yards from the nearest cabinet, and we get 30-40mb, which never dips below 30mb at any time of day or night.

(our house is downhill from the cabinet, so we get data coming down the hill faster than it can go up the hill)

Ireland's last remaining representatives, Munster, take on Harlequins today and it should be a cracker. Munster will have to be confrontational and bring their cup game to the field today in the Quarter Final. Conor Murray needs to start doing what he has been prevented from doing recently and that is to get himself outside the second defender. He has the ability to do it and cause panic.

Munster by 10......

In other news Joe Schmidt is favourite to take over Ireland. The Leinster coach has proven himself on the club stage, can he transfer that to the International stage....

Tried to deposit some money on Will Hill yesterday for some late National bets, had some problems so I ended up placing my bets on another more reliable site. Got an email this morning.

Dear Gerard,

We had some technical issues with our website on Saturday between 2.45pm and 3.40pm. As a result some customers were unable to deposit.

This was due to exceptionally high demand for the Grand National. However, it's important to us that you enjoy your experience with William Hill and we wanted to apologise for any disruption you may have encountered.

Rest assured we have done everything in our power to resolve the problems you had and ensure they do not happen again.

The William Hill Team

No problem I just used another site, pre planning for the biggest betting day of the year didn"t work then :)

Meanwhile, Ladbrokes crashed and burned for me, so I went to Willy Hill"s.  Pity the whole lot didn"t crash.  Would"ve saved us some money.   :D

Last night at the aquarium was fun, A couple of hero calls and some stupid calls meant I went out in 5th for a min cash. However on a positive note I had a great time with good people and it looks like we have a few more for Portugal in November.

Today then, lazy day I think with a possibility of playing the WCOAP online game tonight. Be careful what you wish for if you really want me on your table  ;D

I have next week off and once again I am thinking of returning to my roots by paying a wee visit to Poole. I spent my childhood there and haven"t been back since 1971. Might stay at the Antelope near the harbour, which incidently was where I had my first pint aged 16.

It might be good, but to be fair it has probably changed so much I would not recognise it. Don"t know, have to shake myself for some motivation.

My old School (near Broadstone, up near where Leigh lives now I understand) might not appreciate a visit  ;D
