The player is guilty of revealing cards when he shouldn"t! Accident or not!
So if you get stopped by the police and be found to have no insurance, will it make a difference if you accidentally forgot to renew it? NO
Are you allowed to carry on your journey without insurance? NO
Yes, this is a bit more extreme than just turning some cards over but the point is:
You do something wrong you are punished there and then regardless of the intentions/reasonings!
Just my opinion... Maybe I should have been a copper?!
Maybe - you definitely shouldn"t have been a Tournament Director, that"s for sure!
Personally I"m sick of different rules in different casino"s but unfortunately there"s nothing you can do. Some TD"s say they follow TDA then give a completely different ruling to the casino next door who also use TDA. When you protest everyone in the casino you"re in says YOU are wrong and make you feel like you"re going senile!
In fact I got caught out last Saturday night in Circus Liverpool which I"d never been to before. Threw in a raise all in one motion. Half the chips landed over the line (quite distant line IMO) half didn"t. Immediatley someone in the hand piped up that my chips didn"t cross the line and was an illegal bet. The amount of times I"ve been told the line is irrelevant (both here and in Vegas) I"ve lost count of. The amount of time"s I"ve been told that a single forward motion counts as a bet I"ve also lost count of. So I called the floor, but the locals on either side of me told me the TD would rule on the line because that is the house rule. Forward motion not relevant if it didn"t all cross the line. So I withdrew my call to the TD on the basis of CBA, and it stood as a smaller raise than I wanted to make.
At the break one of the locals then told me that a lot of regulars use the line rule to catch out the unsuspecting "foreigner", and price themselves into pots. He said they all know the line isn"t used in many places any more and use it as an angle. Pah.
Back to this case, as thinsy says you can"t really write rules that give out different punishment for essentially the same action because plenty would do a great job of pretending. I don"t really care what the rule should or shouldn"t be - I just wish that all places would implement the same rule then we always know where we stand.
