APAT World Championship Of Amateur Poker (WCOAP)
« on: July 15, 2007, 21:46:24 PM »
The APAT Online Series at PokerStars will conclude with the five event, World Championship Of Amateur Poker festival.

The events are scheduled as follows:-

Saturday, August 4th, 8pm BST / 3pm ET
APAT WCOAP - Pot Limit Omaha Championship
2,500 Chips
$20 + $2

Sunday, August 5th, 8pm BST / 3pm ET
APAT WCOAP - Limit 7 Card Stud Championship
2,500 Chips
$20 + $2

Wednesday, August 8th, 8pm BST / 3pm ET
APAT WCOAP - Limit Razz Championship
2,500 Chips
$20 + $2

Saturday, August 11th, 8pm BST / 3pm ET
APAT WCOAP - No Limit Texas Hold'em Heads Up Championship
2,500 Chips
$20 + $2

Sunday, August 12th, 6pm BST / 1pm ET
APAT WCOAP Main Event - No Limit Texas Hold'em World Championship
5,000 Chips
$50 + $5

With 225 points available across all 5 events, the WCOAP will almost certainly have a significant bearing on the final ranking positions and possibly even determine which player wins the expenses paid entry to the PokerStars.com Caribbean Adventure event.

In addition, the top three in each event will secure Gold, Silver or Bronze medals, as shown below by Irish Amateur Champion Jacques Kieft.

As we seek to find our online poker variant Champions and World Champion, let"s keep up the incredible competitive spirit and good humour throughout the week.  This is an oustanding feature of the live and online tournament series, and almost unique to APAT.

The events will appear on the PokerStars client from early next week, under the Tourney / Special tab.  If you are not seeing all of the games, please ensure your PokerStars client filter is cleared, to display all games, and not just Texas Hold'em.

Good luck.

Des.

Lets hope for a decent turnout in all events and not just the holdem events, also is it the same starting chips in each event? Cheers Chris

Inevitably the non hold"em variants will not have a couple of hundred runners each, but these are likely to become quite intense affairs fought over by specialists and players looking to move up the rankings.  I think it will be fascinating to see smaller fields in some of these events, if that does turn out to be the case.

Chipstack information is shown above.

thatll teach me to pay attention to detail lol, sorry for asking a stupid question. I know the non holdem events will feature smaller fields but it would be nice to see everyone that plays the holdem events trying out games that they wouldnt normally

I only play Holdem, but I will be playing all the games. I have got out of a birthday party to play the Omaha. I hope I get lucky in these games. What kind of fields do you think will play 30, 50, 100?

I have just noticed that Pokerstars has the APAT NLHE World Amateur Poker Open down for the 4/8/2007, instead of the listed PL Omaha highlighted above? Is this just an error or are we looking at a change to the scheduled tourneys?
I also expected the Omaha to be limit Omaha H/L as per the "H.O.R.S.E." format, but i suppose PL Omaha is the preferred european game and i also believe that Ironside is a master at it-so fair enough!?
Can the actual online tourney formats & dates be checked and confirmed and of course i will not mention the next live venue & dates as everyone is putting the APAT team under undue pressure for that info!? Cough.....sorry-lump in my throat!?

I had seen that PokerStars had put that up and it should be corrected tomorrow.

It isn"t a pressure to be involved with APAT, it is a pleasure.  We know everyone is keen to firm plans for the next event and as soon as we can post the update, we will.

If you"ve never played them before then FT do them all on freeplay and maybe pokerstars too. That will give you an idea of how to play the game. AS far as how to win? Just buy in and watch the experts take your chips ;D

Seriously though, it is worth learning other games (RAZZ is particularly easy to pick up). Like you I prefer HE but do like to change games every now and then, especially when I"m running bad. (quite often then).

Good luck to everyone in the WCOAP. I"ll be in Italy on holiday so have to miss out

Looking forward to this series of events... Do not have a clue about Razz, so on a crash course.....Any one fancy pm"ing me basic rules then feel free.....

All of the others are almost certainly a definite entry.......

I am going to put a bounty (free drink(and not a Loius viii brandy)) on Ironsides head in the Omaha tourney.....Got to get him b4 the money though...LOL

I have really enjoyed learning and playing these games recently and like many others i am looking forward to pitting my new learnt skills against fellow APAT members!? It will be interesting to see how many members support these different poker variants as a precursor to possibly mixing a few into season 2"s online diary? Anyone have any comments/opinions on seeing more of these poker variants added to the APAT online timetable in the future?

Yeah totally agree, it would be great to see possibly a rotation of different games or even 3 holdem events a month plus one different variant. Its important to remember that poker doesnt end with No limit holdem, a horse event would be great for next year
