On the subject of Alternates...

Is it still the intention to create one additional £75 prize for each alternate that gets in?

I feel sure that players would prefer something along the lines of one additional prize of £225 for every 3 alternates. For example, 5 alternates get in would create just two extra paid places - £225 and £150.

At least then, if you cash, you are likely to get enough to cover most of your expenses for the two days (not Duke or Dewi obviously, or me for that matter!!).

Any others have an opinion on this??

I don"t think this is a bad idea.

But to provide an alternative viewpoint.

The £75 entry is a substantial part of the cost of an APAT weekend, if you just get the entry fee back it helps quite a bit - and it essentially means that the weekend becomes something you"ve paid for, for the socialising part - and you"ve got a free poker tournament thrown in.

Personally I think either way works.

I think that there should be a prize for every 2 alternates to show a bit of reward for finishing that high.....but also agree with Jon that it doesn"t really matter too much

But people don"t play poker tournaments, especially two day ones, just to get their buy-in back... you can stay at home and and do that. And yes, I know for many it"s all about "a social weekend and playing for the enjoyment of it", I enjoy the social aspect as much as any... BUT if I"m going to cash in an MTT I want to show a profit!

I think both sides have valid points.

Right, I"m off to remove the splinters from my arse.

Twentieth place gets £300 if I"ve read the prize structure correctly.  An additional prize per two alternates for £150 is my preference.  Wading through a field of 200 over two days I think you deserve a little more than just your initial buy-in back.  The social aspect of the weekend is great, but I do primarily go to these things to win money - stop that sniggering at the back, I"ve just been unlucky - so if I do make the money places I want to show a profit.

Someone has to bubble at some time.  After removing the splinter from my backside, I"ve decided to come down on the side of the prize for every two alternates of £150, and obviously if there"s an odd number, a £75 prize for the odd bubbler.
