Okay guys I take on board what you say about the Regionals, it had to be done. But the low buy in to such a good live format was a great introduction to live poker for a lot of people. Okay self dealing wasn"t great, but I think I will stuggle to get some of my mates to pay £75 to an, event where they think they will be outclassed. £20 never scared anyone way, and has seen some good players become APAT regulars.
Any way I will still look forward to the Nationals and will play as many as I can, and the same for the online stuff, well done once again to all you guys who put in the hard work, and a big thankyou to BSQ.

Great work again from the APAT team....I for one like it.

1. Regionals dissapearing seems to be the biggest issue with some and for those that played them I"m sure it is a dissapointment. I personally shared the view that These tourneys were often not run in the APAT way with the same spirit and quality of organisation as I think a lot of Casinos were not prepared to host them in that way.

2. The larger online tourneys does make these events more of an occasion and worth winning, especially with the added prizes. Still after a medal so a bit dissapointed there are not more and it might well put a fair few off having to pay so much extra for a single online tournament.

3. The team championships~ Is it now just a team championships or still forum based?
Shame it is not in Blackpool as accomodation and entertainment is perfect for a team event (nothing to do with being my closest casino   ;))
Also I think forum debate will lead to the dates being moved, giving up the Xmas w/end for poker is not the way to win the hearts and minds of familys. Mid January would be good.

4. The Cardiff event is scheduled for 4/5 April and clashes with the Virgin Festival. I know there are bound to be clashes along the way, but these two events appeal to a similar section of poker player adn if the Cardiff event is still to be confirmed a change of date could perhaps be possible.

5. The £100 World 3 day event, if this is 3 seperate days will it be a different structure ( eg more chips, longer clock, extra levels etc)?

All-in all great stuff, sure im not the only one looking forward to it !

Just re-read it in the cold light of day and nothing has changed - I got it first time.  An excellent effort guys - APAT conquers the credit crunch and pushes forward into 2009.  I am sure that with well structured online tourneys next year, S4 will have the opportunity to reinstate some live regionals or more live national games.  I played a couple of regionals this year and was really disappointed to see only 10 - 14 players, self dealt and a fairly drab atmosphere - all this with a 4 hr round trip each time.  However, my 8 hour drive to take part in the Welsh National held in Cardiff  was a totally different experience - a fantastic time and really what I thought APAT would be about - fun atmosphere- great structure- some good play-some dodgy plays and the buz that only a well run live MTT can provide. The National live tourneys are surely the cornerstone of APAT and anything that can be done to encourage more people to participate the better.  Dont forget that the online leagues/championships  have a juicy GUKPT prize awaiting at the end for the winners.

Once again, well done to all concerned and a big thanks to Blue Square who have again come up trumps.

One thought; the bottle neck in the tourneys is definatley the live Nationals.  How about in S4 more live tourneys are introduced with a similar structure to the S3 nationals - even if a modest fee is needed to act as an incentive to the host venue.  The structure is everything and for £75 you wont get a better one.
How about a game during the Summer in the SW - combine it with a weeks holdiay in the sun - the family wont cotton on until its too late!!

Well done and here"s to 2009 - I"ll be signing up for Team Plymouth - lets hope there is a strong contingent from the SW - I am canvassing mates in West Cornwall to sign up and encourage everyone else to do the same.  Only if Blue Square get enough from the arrangement will they continue to support it.  It would be fantastic if the online league games were getting over 200 runners. Afterall there appears to be the interest out there - this thread alone has had about 10000 views.

Best of the season

Kay

At first glance, looks like an improvement to me.

The online events are now "events".  They have qualifiers, and are now meaningful tournaments that people will look forward to.  Saturday night won"t be suitable to all (not sure that they"ll be any good for me), but they have to be on one night of the week and whichever night it"s on it"s not going to suit everyone.

The nationals looks excellent, and again are the Blue Riband events for APAT (as they should be).  The addition of DTD to the schedule makes perfect sense (as all who have played there will testify).

The lack of regionals is a shame, BUT - I don"t think they were right last year.  Some regionals were better organised than others, and some casinos took them more seriously (or were able to host them better than others).  Basically, it was outside APAT's control how good they were.  It also appeared that the casinos (i.e. Grosvenor) couldn"t dedicate the staff and resources that were initially promised to these events.  In the end, they weren"t all proper "APAT" events.  So although their ommission leaves a hole, I"m not sure it"s an APAT-sized hole that"s left.

Need to read up on the regional stuff, as at first glance it"s a little confusing.

Des and the gang - great work yet again.  Roll on Season 3...
Daniel speaks sense.[FML]

Fantastic! Really looking forward to season 3 now and it was well worth the wait!

The improvements look great and looking forward to the new additions too. I"m not suprised the regionals went and its completely understandable.

Congrats and big thanks to Des and the APAT team for the hard work put into this and also a big thanks to our sponsor BlueSQ for their continued support.

I"ll be signing up for the Newcastle poker club. Northern division for the win  :D :P ;)

Re read it sober now.

Understand the reasoning ect behind it all so woll done to all the APAT team.

The bigger buy ins will def put off the people that i play with so it means coming up on my own to places ive never been too which will be slightly daunting, but shall all be in the spirit of it all lol.

So yeah bring on S3

As a new guy this does not seem fair. With out regionals it will be harder for us new players to get in these bigger events

Without wanting to sound harsh, you"ll have exactly the same chance as everybody else who wants to play.

I disagee a bit, if you have NEVER gone through the registration process before and not sure how it works you are at a bit of a disadvantage.

I am told that it is a clickfest. I know where & when the clickfest begins but then what?

As I said I will give it a go and hope for the best.

Thank for all your help and information.
