As a new guy this does not seem fair. With out regionals it will be harder for us new players to get in these bigger events

Without wanting to sound harsh, you"ll have exactly the same chance as everybody else who wants to play.

I disagee a bit, if you have NEVER gone through the registration process before and not sure how it works you are at a bit of a disadvantage.

I am told that it is a clickfest. I know where & when the clickfest begins but then what?

As I said I will give it a go and hope for the best.

Thank for all your help and information.

Sean Kachmarski

Sean,

So you or anybody else is not at a disadvantage, the clickfest is no different than any other purchase you would make online.  You click the link, fill out your details and submit.

I guess it"s similar to buying gig tickets online.  They go on sale at 9pm and you refresh, refresh, refresh until the link is active.  Then you type your details as quickly and accurately as you can and hope you make it into the queue before they sell out.

Plenty of suggestions have been discussed in the past regarding this process, and this is the fairest way of dealing with demand exceeding supply.

Hope that helps,

Leigh

It makes no difference if you"re a new player or "old" player Sean.

Due to the economic downturn, the effects of which are being felt at Grosvenor / BlueSq, the Regionals had to be removed from our Schedule. In showing our support to our Sponsor, we will now run alternative Qualifying Tournaments Online (on BlueSq) at Buy-Ins to suit all - $5, $10 and $20.

"Three satellites will be made available at Blue Square in the run up to all National Championship events. There will be a Monday $20 + $2 freezeout, a Tuesday $10 + $1 freezeout and a Wednesday $5 + $0.50 rebuy.  Non allocated seats will be sold directly to players on a Thursday evening.  All dates will be updated on the APAT site in the next 24 hours."

I disagree once again, it does matter if your a first timer with APAT.

A £20 regionals in our area would ease us into the tour instead of spendinging the £75 plus travel expenses to an event where we it would feel like we are feel like being thrown in at the deep end.

For me poker is social and reading players is what I enjoy. You can not do that online. As people know online & live are to different games and I tend to stay way from online. (Also due to scandles Ultimate bet etc...)

Economic downturn? I would have thought that having a group of poker players in a casino would help the revenue of the casino. (cash games, casino promotions, member registartion, etc. I would even be willing to pay a registration fee.

ANYWAY,  the powers that be, (I am sure) have discussed and debated these issues at length).

I was just looking forward to the regionals, but now have to get ready for the big show instead of having a warm up event.

I will give the clickfest at go...

Thanks for the information and help.

Oh dear, i sound impatient. What is the blind and chipstack structure for these sats?

Hope it is the same "creative play" kind of structure.

Why do you think WSOP is self deal???

I would guess this means some of the super sats at the Rio. The bracelet events themselves are not self deal.

There are NO self-deal geames in Vegas [card rooms].
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space.

Not if it"s in a property regulated by the Nevada State Gaming Commision.

Not a lot of people will appreciate how hard Des had to work to secure sponsorship from BlueSq for Season 3 and the difficult decisions and sacrifices that had to be made.

APATers playing a Regional Event probably contributed a very small percentage of Grosvenor"s revenue in 2008 - it certainly wasn"t an amount that we could go in bargaining with. On the day, Tournament Directors and Dealers cost the Casino money, Buffets cost money, having the cardroom open and heated etc. costs money so it was decided that the Regional Qualifiers would be the best way APAT could help Grosvenor reduce some of their costs.

I share your disappointment (who doesn"t prefer playing live after all?) but feel that we have taken the correct and appropriate actions whilst still providing many good alternative qualifying methods for the Nationals.

At first glance, looks like an improvement to me.

The online events are now "events".  They have qualifiers, and are now meaningful tournaments that people will look forward to.  Saturday night won"t be suitable to all (not sure that they"ll be any good for me), but they have to be on one night of the week and whichever night it"s on it"s not going to suit everyone.

The nationals looks excellent, and again are the Blue Riband events for APAT (as they should be).  The addition of DTD to the schedule makes perfect sense (as all who have played there will testify).

The lack of regionals is a shame, BUT - I don"t think they were right last year.  Some regionals were better organised than others, and some casinos took them more seriously (or were able to host them better than others).  Basically, it was outside APAT's control how good they were.  It also appeared that the casinos (i.e. Grosvenor) couldn"t dedicate the staff and resources that were initially promised to these events.  In the end, they weren"t all proper "APAT" events.  So although their ommission leaves a hole, I"m not sure it"s an APAT-sized hole that"s left.

Need to read up on the regional stuff, as at first glance it"s a little confusing.

Des and the gang - great work yet again.  Roll on Season 3...

I agree fully, again was looking forward to regional qualifiers as it got me into 2 events, but as long as there is plenty of satalities I dont mind.

In terms of the live national event due to their popularity such as the scottish this year do you think it would be possiable to increse the numbers of seats avaliable at the event i.e. number of player. I did managed to qualifie last year but I would be truly gutted if I didnt get to play in it this year. I belive other would be same and if worst comes to worst I dont qualifie, I would like to think buying in would be easyer than a complete click fest as this method seemed a bit crazy to me! i dont know what the answer is but just my thoughs really.

No need to worry about being thrown in at the deep end, it"s the friendliest game you"ll come accross by far - my first event was the Scottish National Championship and I travelled through on my own when I secured a last minute seat and I certainly didn"t feel like i"d been thrown in at the deep end. Just felt like I was at a friendly home game and was chatting to folk almost immediately.

To tarnish all online poker with the same brush as Ultimate Bet is ludicrous in my opinion. Especially since the UB scandal came to light, the whole world is watching the online poker sites with an eagle eye right now so doubt there"ll be any more major scandals of that scale. Sure they"ll be the odd colluder etc but that happens in live poker too. All poker sites are innocent until proven guilty in my eyes, and Blue Square is a reputable firm who is to be fully trusted.

I"m intrigued though - how does someone who tends to "stay away from online poker" manage to accumulate enough player points to purchase a Full Tilt jersey, and would wearing it at a final table not contradict your views on online poker?

How is the winning club decided in the National League final? Is it the club the individual winner belongs to or are points awarded for places 1 to 9 as in the fortnightly constituent events?

Jack,

It"s based on the 1 to 9 system, with the winning team coming from the Southern Division, obviously.   ;D

Leigh, can you remind me how the Welsh did in the Euro championships again.  ;)
