I am excited about S3 and will not miss the Regional events. Poker players are a demanding lot judging by the posts. Amidst all the doom and gloom of recent months, its good to know that amateur poker is alive and well. Great work Des and team.  ;D ;D ;D

Is it correct that the satellites for the World Championship in August take place in February?

The plan is to put that event onsale several months before it plays out.  There will be some sats before and I dare say quite a few during the run up to the event also, but the event is planned to go on sale in February.

Hi there, apologies for this post but being in Norfolk, there appears to be no local club to us, so how do we decide which regional team to join?

Think you can join which ever region you want regardless of where you actually live.  Just once you"ve picked a club you can"t change it later.

It will be your choice which club you would like to be a part of eg Nottingham or even London (not quite good on geography tbh lol), depending on the one that is nearest your location.

Whichever one you choose to join will the one you will remain with for Season 3.

Hope that helps hun.

Excellent work APAT, the new season looks exciting, can't wait for it to start next week. I will miss the regionals but they weren't really the APAT experience last season but enjoyed them nevertheless. The National league looks really interesting, I'll be joining the Liverpool Club, I'm sure if Liverpool FC do their bit we'll have a Premier League / Champions League / APAT League treble in 2009!

Given that the first line of the press release says "Amateur Poker Association & Tour" and that there is no planned event involving pros, have we reverted back to the original branding/name?

Simplistically, yes.  Pros are still very much welcome to join and they will be represented on the APAT Association board which is the current priority after the Season Three launch details are all finalised.  It is extremely likely there will be a professional series in Season Four - whether that is APAT's own pro events or events we endorse and add to our calendar from the existing pro tours.  That may bring about a future change in the sub branding, as S2 did.

OK, having sobered up after Christmas (only for today as New year celebrations start tomorrow) I have read the Season 3 brief again and my summary is as follows:

Addition of major Omaha, Horse and a 3day event (+ve)
4 day event for euro champs (+ve)
Irish National when I"m on holiday (-ve)
£75 buy-in with no rake remains (+ve)
Addition of Antes (+ve)
Addition of 500/1000 level (+ve)
increase in blind levels (+ve)
3 different types of sats for Nationals (+ve)
no more inconsistent Regionals (+ve)
16 countries in Euro champs (+ve)
added value by Bluesquare again in season 3 (+ve)
$75 online events with options to sat into (+ve)
events take place on a day of the week ending in a "y" (+ve)
separate rankings for online and live (+ve)
new online National League with low buy-in (+ve)
Divisional Controllers appointed (ok, so it couldn"t all be good)
