Highlight Of 2015
« on: December 16, 2015, 13:13:34 PM »
We"re coming to the end of another year.  More and more stuff get"s posted and discussed elsewhere, so I thought I"d start a thread to post up your highlight of the year.

Poker or non-poker, about you or someone else, what"s been your highlight of 2015 ?

Enjoyed freerolling into and running deep in Pokerfest at DTD, but personal highlight was winning £10 from Dave Howard playing 6 card bent webber.

That"s just 6 card PLO and a statement.

Surprising you can remember a specific occasion Dave got stacked* in a home game considering how frequently it happens...

*Im assuming you stacked him considering his uber sluggy buy ins

Leigh - TL;DR.

But yeah, mine"s similar to yours. Except the whole trip, not just that comp. Happy days (16 of them).

My trip to Vegas (The trip was the highlight itself) at roughly the same time. Meeting both Leigh and Paul but having my own luck, not as big as theirs but a good result for me all the same. I decided to enter the $150 Golden Nugget and made the Final Table for it to be split 9 ways. Not a victory but a very good days poker for myself.. $1500

I didn"t realise that was a 9 way split Bill.

How did that discussion take place ?

Unless I was rather short stacked I believe the discussion would have got as far as...

I had nursed a stack from 2 tables and was getting info from Mark Sanders who was letting me know how the short stacks were doing on the other table. Eventually makes it to the final table and about five or six hands were played. I managed another double up and took the blinds once also. It left me 8th maybe 7th but then a guy asks the dealer to hold for a minute while he asks for a table deal. This bloke was a Vegas cop and was in work the next day and he would not be able to make the 2pm start. One or two others also said yes and they had reasons why it would not be possible or cutting things close. The dealer then calls the TD over as there are only 5 minutes left of the final days level and a decision needs to be made quickly. He comes over and the question is asked for a 9 way split and what would we each get. When he goes away the question is asked of each of us. We got 7 yes and 2 no. A French bloke didn"t know what was going on as he couldn"t follow the conversation and I said no. I told them that if 4 maybe even 5 can"t make the next day when I can then I will turn up and just sit around until they are blinded out. The TD comes back and is told about the 7-2. He says we all have to agree, but the pay out would be $1515 each. He gave us one more minute to decide. It was 4th place to get £1650 so I said yes. Just the French guy, I quickly called some Algerian over who went out earlier and jokingly said to him "Do me a favour and tell the French bloke to accept the offer or me and the Vegas cop will smash his face in" He started laughing and then started to translate into French... The guy looked up and laughed and said "Oui"  About 20 minutes later I have $1500 in my pocket and realise how pissed I was... 2 bottles an hour for nearly 11 hours has it"s effect when you stop concentrating...
