SIMON AUCKLAND

Simon Auckland came to prominence within APAT during season 2, where he made 3 final tables.  Incredibly, the midlander would end up a point short of Darren Shallis in the live rankings for the season, in one of the best head to head encounters we"ve ever seen at APAT.

Simon achieved his best result the following season when winning the Welsh Amateur Championship.

ANDREW TRACEY

Andrew Tracey is another star of yesteryear, scoring in four consecutive seasons starting in 2007.  His best result was the WCOAP Horse Championship in season 3, closely followed by a silver medal at the North American Championship at Caesars Palace in season 5.

DAVE HOWARD

Dave has a well earned reputation as a mixed game specialist within APAT.  His first cash saw him win a WCOAP Omaha Championship in season 2 and he went on to win his second WCOAP title two seasons later in Heads Up.  In addition, he has cashed in Horse, Six Max, Mixed, Open Face Chinese and Team, in addition to NLHE.

JP has 9 cashes, the highlights being Silver medals in the season 6 Welsh Amateur Championship and the season 7 WCOAP Razz Championship.  The popular Rugby Union fan has also taken Bronze medals at the season 7 UKCOAP Cash Championship and while representing England in the season 6 Home International Championship.

IAN THOMPSON

Despite being one of the nicest guys on the APAT circuit, Ian has shown a steely determination to succeed, leading to consecutive ranking points scores in seasons 3 through 8.  A cash finish at the UK Team Championship, or at the season ending WCOAP would see Thompson recording an outstanding 7th consecutive seasonal cash.  Ian"s best result was a WCOAP Stud title in season 4 and runners up team finishes at the season 5 UK Team Championship and season 8 WCOAP World Team Championship.

RICHARD BAKER

With close to 50 events under his belt, Richard Baker can lay claim to being the second most prolific player on the APAT tour with an outstanding 14 cashes.  Similar to Ian Thompson, Baker has scored in consecutive seasons since final tabling the European Amateur Championship in season 3.  One additional score in season 9 will see the popular "degens" leader equal the best ever run of scoring in 7 consecutive seasons.  Baker has 1 title to his name, as a member of the successful Edgworth Cricket Club team that won the UK Pub title in season 5.  The big man was also a member of the England team who took Silver at the season 6 European Amateur Team Championship.

STEVE REDFERN

With 13 cashes and 4 wins, Steve Redfern has worked hard to earn his place at the top end of our greatest players list.  His breakthrough came with victory in the UK Amateur Championship in season 3 and he"s followed that result with victories in the season 3 UK Team Championship and the season 6 WCOAP Cash Championship.  Perhaps the highlight of his APAT career was his England captaincy at the season 6 WCOAP World Amateur Team Championship, where he led his team to victory in a dramatic final playoff with Italy.

MARK DONNELLY

With 5 cashes, Mark would appear to be one of the least prolific of our senior players.  However, when he has played he has gone consistently deep in events, scoring heavily.  He was the star of APAT's first season, making 3 final tables, for 2 Silver medals.  That enabled him to win the season 1 live rankings by a full 13 points from Richard Davies.  Donnelly disappeared from the APAT tour, returning in season 6, where he made a further 2 final tables.

CHRIS WEBBER

Chris first cashed as recently as season 6, but he has had some incredible results since - particularly at the shorter field WCOAP events.  With WCOAP titles in Mixed (season 7) and PLO Hi/Lo (season 8) there is no doubting his skill across multiple game formats.  With 5 cashes in season 7 alone, Webber was able to finish runner-up in the live event rankings, an excellent achievement.  With the WCOAP on the horizon, Chris is a strong favourite to move into APAT's overall top 10 before the season is out.

ANT WILLIAMS

Ant is the highest ranked player at APAT over the past 10 years who has not won a live event.  However, his record of 9 cashes in events with an average field size of over 170 players is high testament to his quality and consistency.  The popular midlander has made 5 final tables, winning 2 medals.  While the Silver he won at the season 2 UK Team Championship stands as his highest finish, it is the Bronze he achieved in the following season"s WCOAP World Amateur Championship main event that will stand as his highest achievement.  Ant outlasted all but one of a 314 runner field to secure his highest ever cash of £3,000 and the respect of his peers.

And so we"ve reached our top ten.

There are multiple rankings that we could have put in front of you to represent who APAT's greatest players of the past ten years have been.

This list is inclusive of all events and the one we consider our most definitive ranking.

We will publish separate ranking lists for APAT main events only and WCOAP only in the coming days, but for today, here are our 10 highest ranked players over the past 10 years, across all events.

You have probably played with these guys many times.  It would be great to hear your views on their strengths and weaknesses, great hands you"ve played against them, what you like about their game, etc - to build our knowledge of how they"ve consistently achieved at a high level over such a long period.

Please post your thoughts below.
