WCOAP Discussion
« on: January 21, 2016, 19:30:16 PM »
January 21, London:  The Amateur Poker Association & Tour (APAT) in partnership with Coral Poker, are proud to announce details of the 2016 World Championship of Amateur Poker (WCOAP).

The eighth edition of the WCOAP will take place at Aspers Casino in Stratford, London, between March 19th and 28th (Easter Monday) and offer 22 bracelet events across a multitude of poker disciplines.

With buy ins ranging between £55 and £220, the WCOAP can best be described as a mini World Series of Poker for recreational players.  It consistently draws players from across the world thanks to a unique mix of highly competitive, but friendly, competition.

In 2015, Welshman Daniel Lewis outlasted a field of 397 players in the main event to take the title of World Amateur Poker Champion, a first prize of £8,500 and a trip to the WSOP in Las Vegas.

Highlights of the 2016 festival include:

* The largest WCOAP ever with 22 bracelet events over ten days.
* New, exclusively commissioned main event Gold bracelet.
* Day 1 of the festival will host the inaugural 8 Game Players Championship, played over two days.
* Italy will return to defend their World Amateur Team Championship title.
* Multi table streaming will be available for several events.
* Each event will count towards APAT's All*Stars international amateur ranking system.
* The best individual player over the festival will win a WCOAP Passport for 2017.
* The World Amateur Poker Champion (winner of the Main Event) will win an added trip to Las Vegas in June 2016

WCOAP Satellites will commence with APAT/Coral on Thursday 28th January and run every Thursday and Sunday evening leading up to Day 1. For full satellite details see: http://www.apat.com/forum/index.php?topic=19381

The WCOAP Online will be played in the week following the WCOAP on APAT/Coral and feature a selection of side events in addition to the Main Event.

Love everything apart from the HORSE/ PLO8 clash. Could the PLO8 start first? Very hard even for me to bust a HORSE MTT early doors :(

Great events as always.

Just feel it"s a shame to have the 6 Max on the Thursday and not Good Friday when so many more people could play.

Having the HR and Razz on that day means a lot wont bother to go sadly. Just my opinion obv.
APAT Season 6 statistics

Firstly, very good and I will be in attendance most likely arriving on Sunday 20th until Monday 28th.

Personally I thought the big opening event was better as a PLO but no big deal either way and would prefer the 6 max on the Friday with Razz Thursday. Again that is likely to be personal preference.

Think that Statford is the best location available that is able to provide everything needed and being so close to London helps those coming from abroad and helps bring people into the games who would not normally play an APAT which should be the goal of the WCOAP as it is the big show if you like like. Based on the current events I will be likely want to play the following

Monday - nlhe turbo
Tuesday - round of each
Wednesday - PLO8 or I might just play cash that day
Thursday - 6 max
Friday - day off and rail team event maybe play a bit of cash or find something else to do if people want too
Saturday - main event
Sunday - maybe PLO depending on how it has gone and how I am feeling, if I am knackered and out may go home
Monday - main event day two if I am in it home if now

Really looking forward to this now have already booked the London Stratford Travel Lodge from 20th to 28th cost £53 per night on average which is good and is within walking distance of everything so won"t need to take a single cab. If you need it you can also get wifi for 12 quid for the week. Overall I think this is one of the lower prices I have paid per night in hotel costs this season. Hope to see lots of APAT people in Stratford.

Cracking lineup.  Should be there for at least the 6 max and main event.  Travel Lodge and train ticket from Cardiff already booked

I am looking forward to attempting to defend the main event.

For whoever does win, the added Vegas package will be a real treat. I was properly looked after by APAT last year and had a great time with the guys despite not really knowing any of them prior to the trip.

Nice schedule. 8-game especially looks to be a great tourney to kick off the week. Expect quite a few runners for this one, Dealer"s Choice cash games have been popping up a lot lately around London so the interest is there.

One question about the online satellites which commence next week. Can I win multiple £110 tickets and use the extra tickets to enter into events other than the main?

Just wondering given the size and impressiveness of this event what are the chances of setting up a sat for a package like we have had before like a £55 buyin or something like that where the winner gets entry to the main and some sides and maybe some cash towards accomadation? Think that would get some interest.

Just a couple of minuses for me.

Disappointed that the PLO is only a one day game this year but to give way to a two day 8 game is more than acceptable. Really unhappy that the 8 game is twice the entry of every other side event, if we want to get people who maybe haven"t tried the more unusual games, this isn"t the way.

Plusses: 8 game on the menu, everything else

Well done APAT.............again

I would definately support a satty like this if you can set it up. A £440 package for a £55 sat (with £11 feeders) each Thursday is perfect. Allows the qualifier to play main and 6 £55 sides or main, 2 £55 sides and the hi roller.

If you wanted to add some expenses money in, then suggest a £30 rebuy for a £600 package

Overall I like the look of this schedule, well done APAT. The 8 game looks like it could be an absolute cracker if the structure is right - guess we"ll have to wait and see the level lengths and which level are (or aren"t hopefully) missing, as some of the limit events in the past have suffered from being too slow in the first few levels, then outrageously fast for the mid section before calming down again a bit at the end (not that I"ve ever lasted long enough for it to matter of course!).

One thing that"s a little disappointing is the lack of evening starts so pretty much anything midweek is going to be out of the question for me personally unless I can get some time off, despite living closer to London than most. However, I realise that the majority of people are travelling and staying for a few days and this will have less impact on them. If it means that structures are improved due to having more run-time available for the events, then I"m all for it!

For anyone who is interested in where the dead money is, I"d like to be playing:

8 Game
OFC
Razz
ME
PLO

Looking forward to this and seeing everyone there, bring on the structures!
