Following on from the Scotty Nguyen discussion I thought this would be good for some banter.

We all know the rules of the game but depending on where you play, some house rules come into play.

I believe there should be stricter rules on player"s behaviour at (and around) the table. Drunken stupidity.........Should it incur a time/level penalty? Betting out of turn....should it make your hand dead? That would stop people using it as a deliberate ploy and make sure that if it"s a genuine error you"ll be sure you never do it again.

Bring it on people. What"s your pet hate? What should be disallowed? What should be introduced? Vent your spleens

What about the people that do do it by mistake -very easy to do if you think the person next to you has folded their hand and you can"t see their hole cards.  Or the dealers jumps a person because his hole cards are unsighted and then its a chain reaction...!!!!  mistakes happen we are only human and to have your hand declared dead for what is obv human error is silly.....

Absolutely agree Linda, I"ve done it myself (due to lack of concentration at the time). My point in mentioning this is that it"s one of those issues that has no ruling so people can (and some do) do it in order to gain an advantage. Obviously not any of APAT's members though  

I just wanted to throw open a general discussion about rules in general. I"m sure other members can provide better examples for debate.

Good point Ian. Is this becoming a bigger problem as the game is becoming more popular or is down to the lack of clout individual dealers might have?

It"s just a lack of experience in players new to the live scene - I don"t see any problem with dealers having a quick word, nothing too critical, obviously, as we want these players coming back for more.

To act out of turn once is ok, we all do it (or have done it) but to continually act out of turn - then that is just plain stupid (annoyingly so)

It is up to the dealer to ensure that all cards are visable and to control the action - if it is dealer dealt then i dont think that there are two many excuses for acting out of turn!

I the Poker rule book that i have (its a bit old - but generally still applies) it states that:

"the following actions are improper and gounds for a warning, suspension or baring of the violator:
1) Delibratly acting out of turn

It is annoying - but if someone wants to muck their Button - SB - BB before the action gets to them....... thats there loss!!!

You"re a nice drunk Duke   Scotty Nguyen and Layne Flack on the other hand  
I"m happy to have drunk people at my table, even if they"re slightly obnoxious. You"ll normally get a share of their chips when they make a daft move - no offence Duke as I"ve yet to be at your table. I don"t drink while I"m playing (though I had a number of shandies before the Vic cash table last weekend........and during.......and after   but as a general rule I don"t drink when playing   ).
