We got news for you. Guess who showed up to play? None other than cuddly Howard. For the first time since 2010, Howard Lederer is playing in the WSOP. I thought he would wait for the Players Championship, but he is playing #16 $10k 2-7 NLSD. The stalking horse, Chris Ferguson, has played several days without incident, so far as we know, so Lederer has obviously decided to chance it. Although Ferguson has played some mass events, I expect Lederer will stick to the $10k tournaments mainly populated by professiional players, where he is much less likely to  come face-to-face with random punters bearing a grudge.

How is he getting on? It doesn"t matter - what matters is whether he gets through the day without being confronted.

Wow...I knew of his apology and Ferguson"s return, but this is breathtaking given his crimes.  Incredible.

Please let either of them play the seniors and be seated next to Ger after a few coronas :)

Think it"s real bad that Ferguson is refusing to make any type of statement or apology. still turning up in his trademark hat as if nothing has happened. At least Lederer has tried to explain his version of events. I read on poker news that they have offered Ferguson the opportunity to make a statement and so far he has refused. A simple "I"m sorry for all that happened, it wasn"t intended and the company grew bigger than we could handle" while not being perfect would at least show contrition. On the other hand I expect the Amazon room is full of thieves, grimmers, cheats and hustlers, so maybe those two are in the perfect place :)

Keith from The Office Wins A Bracelet

Rep Porter is one of those players whose name keeps coming up near the top of the updates, especially in the mixed games. This was his third bracelet and his second in Razz. We saw the first serious assault by Negreanu, who finished fourth. Daniel Weinman (7th) picked up his fourth cash of the Series, while the two lowest-placed cashers, Allen Kessler (69th) and Ismael Bojang (70th), both registered their third. Once again, Kessler slips in at the bottom.

Brendan Taylor pops in from the beach and finishes fifth.

We have never had a tournament where everyone has scored points, but it could happen this year. Mercier and Negreanu have both been backed by almost every selector, with just five passing on each of them (not the same five - in fact, no-one has rejected both of them). So, whenever they cash , there will be a chance of universal scoring. It didn"t quite happen this time, as only three of Negreanu"s haters scored elsewhere, with the other two missing out entirely.

Adam scored freely, having picked Negreanu, Deeb, Pescatori and Zinno.

STAKER - WSOP #13 $1,500 Seven Card Razz

Staker          Stake          Winnings          Profit
Shirley Cole          £1044          £29253          £28209
Karen Mead          £1044          £15241          £14197
Rafael Rovira          £1000          £5327          £4327
Bill Sheppard          £1044          £2658          £1614
Richard Baker          £1044          £1710          £666
Ian Witt          £1044          £1300          £256
Ross Freeman          £1044          £1220          £176

It"s a big return for the stakers. Karen and Shirley went big on Negreanu, Karen putting more than half of her stake on him and Shirley going all-out with 100%. Karen put almost half on Hastings, who didn"t come through this time, but her Negreanu result is enough for a huge profit.

Rafael split his stake between Deeb and Chidwick, and made a profit on both. Bill did the same, but went for a four-way split, with Deeb and Chids still making him a good profit.

So what is the best approach? At one end, you have Shirley putting it all on one player, with the potential to win huge or lose the lot. Richard did the same with Pescatori, whose min-cash meant a 64% profit. At the other extreme, Ian split his backing between eleven players and enough of them cashed to turn a profit for him. Most others were somewhere in between. Ian will score a lot of times when Shirley misses entirely, but will her occasional larger wins exceed his? What"s the best strategy? I don"t know the answer - that"s up to you to work out. 9pm tonight is the next deadline for staking in #18 HORSE.

1,172 players through to Day 2 from the two Day 1s, and 1,079 will cash, so we are nearly there. I haven"t searched through the lists in detail, but I spotted a few of our players:

81k Matt Waxman
68k Simon Deadman
15k Maria Ho

Some others through:

179k Upeshka De Silva
147k Sofia Lovgren
106k Yevgeniy Timoshenko
 97k Loni Harwood
 62k Tod Wood
 55k Daniel Laming

Sofia Lovgren has a lot in front:

#15: $1500 Eight Game and #16: $10k 2-7 NLSD resume at 10pm UK time.

Paul Volpe is chip-leader in #15, which is down to 11 players. ODB and the Jasons, Somerville and Mercier, have already cashed in this and moved their business elsewhere.

#16 is a whole different matter. There are 34 still in and a lot of of them are household names (in poker-playing households). The top four are Luneau, Matusow, Danzer and Hastings. Also there are Watson, Kassela, Negreanu, Seiver, Smith, Wattel, Mercier, Porter, Chidwick, Gorodinsky, Owen, Zinno, Schulman, Lederer and Rutter.

Day 2 of #14: $1,500 Millionare Maker started an hour ago and is currently hand-for-hand. Unless something has gone disastrously wrong in the last hour, we are about to see our first APAT WSOP cash of 2016. COME ON TOD!

When I entered my player on Staker for Event #18 HORSE the site said "NO DATA".
When i tried to enter him with his Hendon Mob link it said "player already exists".

Just search on surname first Craig.  Sometimes a player is listed on the Hendon Mob (and Staker) with his first, middle and surname, so a first and surname search won"t find him.  So do surname, and search through the responses.  Not an issue if he comes back with No Data.  If he profile link goes to the right player, then you"re fine.

If you invested in Howard Lederer, I"ve got bad news for you. He came into Day 2 short and has gone out in a hand against Brian Hastings. One of those situations where you can"t decide which one you want to lose. Answers to the usual address to the question "In a showdown between Brian Hastings and Howard Lederer, who do most want to lose?". Twenty-three left in the 2-7 (#16), and we have nine of them. #expert picking

Six left in the 8-Game (#15). Volpe currently third.

The Millionaire Maker (#14) is down to 402, and Tod"s name hasn"t appeared yet in the list of cashes. We have a few players highly placed. Deadman has been climbing steadily today and is now up to 11th. Bojang is 22nd, Leonard 28th and Nitsche 44th. Leonard has been having some major scraps with Timoshenko (39th), which seem destined to end with one of them busted and the other with a massive stack. Loni Harwood, Kelly Minkin and Sofia Lovgren are all well-placed. Also in the top 50 are Ted Forrest and .........Chris Ferguson. Sorry to keep bringing him up, but he keeps scoring.

Yes indeed, well done for our first bracelet this year.

And well done to his backers. I think it"s obvious who they are.

Some players get quite emotional about achieving the dream of a lifetime and winning a bracelet. Volpe isn"t one of them. “With me, poker is mostly about the money. I know with the World Series of Poker there"s so much history and I respect that. But I am here mainly to earn a living, make money, and support my family" said the ungracious wretch afterwards.

But never mind that.

It"s Party Time!
