Season 3 Proposals
« on: September 13, 2008, 13:04:58 PM »
Not that I know of any, but thought we could post our own suggestions for the mighty Lord Duff to look at  and consider.

For my Part I would like:

1. Antes.....it is season 3 and I think players are ready for them now, especially in the live games please.

2. Hi/Lo game at the WCOAP week......loved being able to play a decent structured PLO tourney, and would enjoy a similar PLO8 or even Stud Hi/Lo next time round.

Please comment or put forward your own ideas.

Not sure how far down the line the discussion/decisions for season 3 are, this may be too late and I"m sure this has been mention many times before, but I"d like to see fewer online tourneys (perhaps just shadow events for the live tourneys) but make them bigger with a buy-in comparable to the live buy-in perhaps $100-200. Obviously we would need lots of satellites to them.

Perhaps we could have a weekly $10-ish non-ranking league as well.

1. Antes in Nationals

2. 150/300 level in regionals

3. fewer online events with a range of buyin and poker variant, played on a range of days.

I"m praying that the buy ins don"t change too much. If there is even any consideration given to putting them up to $100 + then my association with APAT will come to an abrupt end. For what its worth, I don"t think the season two model had too much wrong with it

I started a thread on this at the beginning of the year

The online game should be looked at (less games, different games, added money/prize  and different buy-ins)

1. Variety throughout the season - not just at the WCOAP.  Poker is more than just NLHE.

2. Antes.

3. 150/300 level in ALL live games.

4. Dealer dealt for all live games.

5. Don"t touch the buy ins for online. Personally not bothered whether it"s $10 or $200, but APAT should be about finding the best players amongst all members, not just those than can afford higher buy ins.

All that said, if nothing changes between S2 and S3, I would still be happy. It"s been a boat-load of fun.

5. Would like less online games but with slightly higher buy-ins, not drastically higher like $100 or that region but cut down the number of games and raise the buy-in slightly I think (maybe $25-$40 range?), I"m sure most people could afford a little rise like that - especially if there are less games... I also think it"d make the online part of APAT more highly regarded if there were less games.

I was talking about a different model for the online events.

Have the same number of events as the live championships (just 7 or so - English, Welsh, Scottish, Irish, UK, European & World) with a similar level of buy-in. With satellites obviously.

Then underneath that a regular weekly $5-20 buy-in online league. Non-ranking for the APAT title but a championship in its own right.

Just a general observation - but I don"t think many people will want to play a satellite for an online event. So most of the entrants will be direct buy ins, therefore it will largely be restricted to those that can afford the direct buy in (not because people on lower budgets can"t get in via the satellites - but because they will choose not to).
