Quote from the updates of the Super-Seniors, for players aged 65+. "Each time we have returned from break, at least one of the players has lost their seat. The floor calls out asking if anyone recognizes the player and a silence falls over the crowd until someone pipes up with their location."

STAKER

A bit of a catch-up coming up on Staker, where some very large wins have seen the stakers well in profit.

Negreanu has been the biggest money-spinner for stakers so far, particularly for Shirley, who put her whole stake on him in #9. #30 was also highly successful for Daniel and his stakers, led by Dave Stones:

Another good result for the stakers was #15, where several stakers recognised an opportunity to cash in with a good Heads-Up player in Oliver Busquet:

#30 was the best tournament for the stakers, with several other good results other than Negreanu.

Dave Paxton and Ian Szerlowski put their other 50% on Mercier, winning another $42k, a total of $73k for the tournament.

Barrie, Simon B and Ross also had 20-30% on Mercier, winning $25k, $21k and $17k.

Paul Roper put the lot on Rast, which gained him $23k.

The biggest inividual win so far was by Glenn, who put 50% of his stake on Moorman in #27, for a return of $249k.

He really has been the stand-out picker so far, also winning $13k for putting the lot on Stuart Rutter in #13.

Another excellent swoop was Liam Coulthard putting his entire stake on Matusow in #17, resulting in him picking up a cool $30k.

Event 31: $1,000 Seniors No-Limit Hold'em (ages 50+, 1 re-entry)
Winner          Frank Maggio
Runners          5389

For the first three days this event was all about 2014 winner Dan Heimiller. He had a massive lead of 2-2½ times second place for a couple of days, and it seemed inevitable that he was destined for a second win. He always seemed to be dominating, holding AQ when someone shoved AJ and so on.  Stacks closed up a bit near the end and then came a KK v AA hand that knocked him right back. It seemed a big surprise that he 'only' finished ninth.

There aren't many big names on the results list. Ferguson and Hachem had a stab, while Greg Raymer, Cliff Josephy, Barny Boatman and Donnacha O'Dea all cashed, but we didn't have any of them.

Star of the show, though, was Sean Byrne, the 4-in-a-row hero.

The winner has a string of final tables and cashes in EPTs and suchlike. He was 128th in last year's Main Event and warmed up for this by coming second in a PokerStars Championship in Monte Carlo.

What he doesn't have is friends. Not one person turned up to support him on the final table. "I guess the reason the Germans have all the money is because they are grinding and not watching," he joshed, almost convincingly.

Who needs friends when you're winning?

Event 34: $10,000 Limit 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw Championship
Winner          Ben Yu
Runners          80
Paid          12
Final Table          6

Player          Position          Points
Ben Yu          1          25
Shaun Deeb          2          18

Karen          2
Leigh          1
Stephen          1

This has been coming. Seven or eight cashes every year for a few going back. Eleven last year. How many? Seems such an obvious pick now. This is Yu's second bracelet.

The end of the tournament was a Who's Who of mixed-game legends. Also a Who's Who of my picks from previous years who I sacked this time - Watson, Buchanan, Zinno.  Thre was Nick Schulman and Shaun Deeb. In fact, I could list everyone who cashed, cos every one of them has a plethora of previous final tables and cashes.

And what about Matusow? Admittedly this was yet another small-field event, but even so - a third final table.

Second-placed Deeb's congratultions to Yu oozed class. "You run the best," Deeb said, shaking Yu's hand.

Yu got his sentences in a tangle afterwards, telling us that Watson is someone he doesn't look up to - "I don't have people in poker that I look up to, but Mike Watson is definitely one of them."
