Thanks guys, I look forward to this every year and might actually get back to some sort of sleeping pattern after some late night railing.
Iv been close the last couple of years so its good to finally get a win.
It's so hard to try and select a few players for your team that other members want have and I think ultimately the inclusion of Ben Yu was my secret weapon with him being only selected on one other team, the guy has a phenomenal wsop cashing record.
A big thank you to Carl and John for the excellent organisation and updates and also to the APAT team for the added value seat.
Hopefully put a few faces to the names at the upcoming goliath and Season 11.

Cheers

Unfortunately for Debbie, Silver forgot all her pre-match advice and dusted off a huge stack to finish 45th. "Don't overplay AQ", she specifically told him, but he proceeded to do exactly that, losing half his stack by betting every street once he hit an A on the Flop and even shoving for value on the River.......against AK. I don't think his manager would have made that mistake.

So 27 players remain from 10 countries. There is a good chance of a new country winning the Main, as only 10 of the 27 are American and only four of the others (two Germans and two Canadians) are from countries that have won it before. Britain (3 players) and France (4) have the best chance of making it a non-American victory.

Here's the kind of winner we would like to see:

John Hesp (UK) - 20.9m chips

The Winning Teams:

Barrie          314          Adam          242          Jo          235
Jason Mercier          19          James Obst          50          Jason Mercier          19
James Obst          50          Jason Mercier          19          Justin Bonomo          13
John Monnette          55          Eli Elezra          0          Stephen Chidwick          5
Randy Ohel          8          Eric Wasserson          18          Dan Kelly          0
Benny Glaser          36          Benny Glaser          36          Mike Leah          19
Brandon Shack-Harris          13          Shaun Deeb          32          Michael Mizrachi          4
Daniel Negreanu          58          Paul Volpe          12          Daniel Negreanu          58
Ben Yu          47          Michael Mizrachi          4          James Obst          50
Roland Israelashvili          11          Justin Bonomo          13          John Monnette          55
Marco Johnson          17          Daniel Negreanu          58          Paul Volpe          12

All three had Obst and Negreanu, but solid performances from Monnette, Glaser and his wild card, Yu, did the job for Barrie, while unexpected under-performances by Bonomo, Chidwick, Volpe and Mizrachi hampered Adam and Jo, as well as many other teams.

Who were the best players to have in your team? Who let you down?

Interestingly, our points scheme produces a different hierarchy than the official POY. Ferguson, Racener and Monnette at at the top of the official rankings, and are near the top of ours (though in a different sequence), but several other players are mixed in too:

Player          Points          Wins          FT          Cashes

Will there be a new winning country of the Main event? The UK is overdue to take this thing down.

Final 27:
Country          Players
USA          10
France          4
UK          3
Argentina          2
Canada          2
Germany          2
Czech Republic         1
Netherlands          1
Portugal          1
Russia         1

Previous Winners:
Country          Wins
USA          33
China          2
Iran          2
Vietnam          2
Australia          1
Canada          1
Denmark          1
Ecuador          1
Germany          1
Ireland          1
Laos          1
Sweden          1

The USA dominated for many years but, for slightly more than than the last decade, it has won an average of one year out of two. It didn't win last year, so that means it is guaranteed to do so this time.

Does Mansour Matloubi count as a British Main Event winner? He is Iranian born, but plays under a British flag.

You could possibly count him as British. You could also claim Chan, Dastmalchi, Scotty, Mortensen, Yang and Qui for the US. That wouldn't leave many non-USA. I'm with Wikipedia, which lists them according to their country of birth.

The July Nine

There is a decent chance of a British winner now, with two Brits on the final table, along with four Yanks, two French and an Argentinian. If you want poker to grow and get mainstream publicity, we need to hope that John Hesp wins. Salas and Pollak are reasonably interesting, but the most of the others are extremely boring and don't come across well on camera. If Ben Lamb wins it will put poker backwards.

Who do you want to win?

These guys:
