playing a few 5 handed SnG"s a few nights ago and being very late at night kept running into the same 2-3 players

did ok, seemed to keep getting to the payout spots and winning every other tourney

in my last game it got down 2 3 players and i pick up 97o in the 300BB with 3,000 chips left

SB has 3,500 after posting 150SB and the button had 550

button folded looking for a better spot perhaps and the SB (who i had a bit of banter with over the last few tourneys and i also knew that he only played with good hands and used his position very well but still seemed weak to re-raises pre flop) raises to 600

i know im at all in or fold mode and looking at the buttons stack i should fold but i call thinking this could be a blind stealing bet and see a J72  rainbow flop

SB checks and i fire out a feeler of 400 - SB calls instantly

Turn is a 7 and SB checks and i bet 900. SB thinks for a almost the full time on the clock (30secs) and calls

River is a J - SB instantly goes all in

he has me covered and i have 1500 left - i type in the message box as im 99% sure im folding - "I have a 7 for the FH - i know you have the J"

i was looking at the fact that with the button on the BB next and during the hands time the BB has gone up to 400, i know i still have a very good chance of cashing

so i fold and the SB shows AJ

dunno why but 99% of the time im calling but the speed of the river bet and the pre flop raise i just knew i was beat (could have had slow played quad JJ but doubt it)

now whats the thought here

am i a donk for even calling the pre flop bet - perhaps - its not the greatest tarting hand and i knew the SB played strong hands

am i a donk for not going all in when the trip 7"s hit - reckon so but then again with AJ and having me covered in chips (marginally anyway) he still has the odds to call

am i the donk for folding the Full House - could be again but looking at the chance to win virtually chip on the table or 90% chance of cashing it was a tough fold

end of the day - i folded and he showed the AJ for the higher FH

next hand i have KK and shove the BB in for his last 200 and beat his A7

and then after 4-5 hands i go on and win the SnG - some lucky hands dealt with JJ and AQ to go all in with

The conservative play is to fold preflop (what I"d have done)

With a good read, you could get a reshove through, but this is an unneccessary risk.

Dont like the call despite the 3 to 1 odds. You may need those chips to call the short stack.

Its difficult to comment on the rest of the hand as it seems to have been played as if you both had deep stacks. (which of course you didn"t)

your turn bet of 900 had you pot committed, so shoving was probably best here. Good fold on river.

Bottom line: you are on the bubble, you are in shove/fold mode, dont be risking chips when there is a micro stack and the only other player can bust you.
