What a weekend
« on: November 17, 2008, 09:56:21 AM »
Been really looking forward to the weekend for ages, got a full pass from the wife thingy for a poker fueled 48 hours and come saturday morning i"m raring to go.

Game 1 was the Aspers £50 Deepstack Freezeout starting 4pm on Saturday.

Good structured game with loads of play and no incidents in the first 2 hours.  Then the day starts to take shape as I get AA bust by QJ when he flops the straight and I do well to lose only 1/3 of my stack.

Shortstack calls my cutoff raise for 1/2 his stack. I hold AJ on a J 9 4 rainbow board and he shoves. Its an auto call and he flips 97s. In comes the runner runner flush and now I"m crippled.

Work my way back to 15BB then get it all in with  qh jh on a  8h 8s 9h board and villain shows  8c 4c and makes his house on the river to conterfeit my flush made on the turn.

So its still early and a bit dejected I register for game 2:

£30 Freezeout Aspers:

This is another good game with 5K starting stack and 3 45 min levels then 25 min levels after that, so plently of time and 80 runners.

On a very passive table so stay around starting stack for 80 mins then the day just gets better. On the button with  9c 9s and 5k benind, raised 4bb to 400 from utg and 4 callers I flat and look to set mine, BB reraises to 900 and all call so again I have to come along.

Flop  :as:  9h  4d - CHAAA CHINGGGGG.  The total bingo flop for me.  UTG raises to 1k and I flat, BB shoves for 6K, UTG calls and I stick my remaining 3k in.  Its on their backs and I"m in heaven its:

ad1   kd and  ac  ks  and I"m 95% favourite to win.

Turn

8d

River

qd

and its fk my life and I"m gone.

Sunday is a new day and full of hope I decide to stick my $215 token from a steps run in the Sunday Warm Up.

I"m full of bad beat stories but feel I"m playing well so still confident and cruise through the first 3 hours without ever being in danger and have 60k as we near the bubble with 90 to go for a cash.

On a good table and have plenty of good spots for blind stealing and just one lag with 100k who raises 4BB (8k) from UTG +1, I decide I don"t want to get too involved with  ad qd so flat and we see a flop of:

qs  9d  4d - BINGO!!!

Notes on LAG boy show he checks weak oop and calls weak to the river so I"m looking to value bet this baby.

Sure enough he checks so I pop 3/4 pot bet to which he SHOVES!!!!

I instant call and he flip  ac :as: and its out 90 short of a cash FK my life.

Time for a couple of weeks off I think!!

intresting hand considering read on villian although what range did you put him on after the check raise?? One of those hands where players work out the odds/equity as being favorable and a good chance to double up.
Would you play it different in hindsight given you seemed to have a good idea of villians style?

In hindsight I defo played this hand badly and should have raised preflop to narrow his range but got too involved in the "lets make the cash" mentality to stick the raise in pre flop and just wanted to see if I could hit the flop hard. Ironically this happens and now as I don"t have the info a reraise preflop would have given me I go busto.  Lessons were learned, the result was just a sum up of the weekend really.

Went through a similar patch 3 weeks ago. I decided to have a rest from playing, only played 2 games since both in the mini-league and will not be playing now until season 3 starts      ;)
