Don't you just love the game of Poker!!!
Playing locally last night, I saw what had to be the best cold deck I have ever seen live.
Having made the final table which was full of the usual recreational players who love to play small suited connectors or even unsuited semi connectors out of position to a raise and the super tight aggressive, I've read all the books and will raise in position everytime with Jack s**t let alone a hand as good as Jack high, I thought it was going to be just another run of the mill night.
That was until three hands in when the following took place.
With the blinds at 100/200 Old Roger (The table big stack) calls from early position which is no surprise as he is one of those players that will always call with :
:
off suit because he always believes he is 50/50 to win the hand and everyone knows this.
I fold as I have nothing and Johnny (Second Chip leader) or Johnny Aces as we call him, as he is rather tight unless he has an Ace, minimum raises to 400.
The usual banter hits the air about he must have the bullets to be doing that in his position but he still gets 4 additional callers, with what we do not know.
The flop comes
ac and is checked all the way round, with the comments from more than one player that Johnny is slow playing his flopped full house.
The turn is now a :
: which is insignificant other than it brings two hearts to the board and the blinds check to Roger, who bets 250 into the pot.
Have you hit your three Roger, is the comment from the table, knowing his weakness for playing low cards, to which he chuckles.
Johnny calls and everyone else folds, knowing that Johnny almost certainly has an A, if not two.
The river is the qh, which now puts a possible flush out there and Roger, who is also unable to put down any two suited cards, bets 500.
Johnny looks at Roger and asks if he's hit his flush before raising to 1,500, at which stage we ALL know at the table that he has the bullets.
Roger then pushes all in for 15,000 and Johnny insta calls for all his chips, with the comment, "I've got Aces baby", to which we are not surprised.
Nice hand says Roger but does it beat quads, as he turns over pocket sevens, to which the table gasps, Johnny turns white and Roger smiles and rakes in the chips.
If that had happened on line there'd be cries of fix, when it happens live, it's hilarious (provided its not you with the aces)
Poker, you've gotta love it!!!!!
