Jaffa Cakes are not biscuits, they are cakes as, for example, in the name Jaffa Cakes, which was proven in 1991 when HMCE took McVitie"s to court to prove that they were biscuits, which they weren"t. It is precisely because they are cakes, and not biscuits, that there is no VAT on Jaffa Cakes.

Good man "MintTrav", people need a reminder from time to time about the non-biscuity status of the "Jaffacake".

You have yet to air your feelings in regards to the supreme "Ginger Nut".

I"m sorry Bainn, but Ginger Nuts are at the bottom of my biscuit list. It is only the existence of Crunchies that is keeping them off the bottom off my whole confectionery/biscuit/other-stuff-like-that list. Apart from not tasting very nice, they are rock hard and have to be dunked in your coffee to make them edible, with potentially disastrous results. If I"m going to do that, there are many other biscuits I"d rather use anyway. You did ask.

Sir, I was about to type something rude in regards to your dismissal of the "Ginger Nut" but shall refrain from doing so.

I think you will find yourself in the minority with that viewpoint, the good and true folks in APAT appreciate the "Ginger Nut"s" true status amongst biscuit kind.

In real terms ginger nut biscuits are the best biscuits available, particularly if dunked in tea.  Rich Tea a close second for dunking, although they"re a bit too wide for a standard mug.

How does he do it?

We start off with a thread about nothing and in the space of a few hours Bainn has turned it into yet another Ginger Nut is the king of biscuits blah blah blah.........

Also I think you will find that mine and rubertoes posts were on topic and your hijacking of the thread was off topic. I refer to post 3 which clearly shows a chocolate confectionary bar.  ;D ;D

FFS the ginger nut is bad for you..

Ingredients

egg -- only good egg is a greasy fried one
salt -- heart attack city (unless sprinkled on a fry up)
butter  -- Cholestoral, artery hardening substance (unless smeared on bread)
sugar  -- fattening (Unless in a big mug of tea)
cinnamon -- FFS (I thought that was a Western movie)
plain flour --- messy (Unless used to make pancakes)
golden syrup -- worse than sugar (Unless on HUGE pancakes)
ground ginger  -- FFFFFS nuff said
bicarbonate of soda -- required after you"ve eaten the fecking biscuit

Have a good day

In answer to point 1 of your post, it is simply my deep understanding of human nature and my ability to sense that this forums users want this debate aired again that has allowed me to steer the topic in the right direction.

As to point number 2, did you really think I would not comprehend the scheme that was afoot ? I will take your attempt at starting a similar debate to the biscuit one as a compliment.

As I can see from your username, spelling may not be your forte sir, mine is spelt "Bainn".

You are utterly wrong about "Hob Nobs" also.

Thank you Ian, that is much more the sort of thing. This is not a biscuit forum.

This is my favourite joke (courtesy of my eldest daughter when she was much younger):

What can you sit on, sleep in and brush your teeth with?
