We"ve gone 18 levels for two matches and the third match is about to go into level 19.  That would add one to two hours to the structure, if we go to 15 mins.  We"ll definitely review though.

great tournament idea, but at one stage im sitting ninth and only have about 13 bb, make one raise then fold and ur snookered. its not often i get pot committed with a preflop raise with 33, 10 min blinds is ok, 2500 is not to bad, but even maybe slow down the rate at whihc the blinds hop

2500 chips would be ok with 15 min blinds.... but would benefit greatly form addition on antes too.

this for me. Chips are fine for a $10 tourney. The hands per hour on ipoker are much less than on some other sites so 10 min levels are more like a turbo.
Game was good fun though

LOL  ad1 jd I hate these cards

Same hand I hate, got knocked out in 104th with them against AA and q3 suited that hit trips on the flop and with 2 diamonds on the flop was hoping to hit the flush but unfortunately it never happened.

Think it never went round the table once with ever one posting at least one small blind and big blind before the levers had gone up???

... pre flop raise with 33 is interesting ...

How many people actually got knocked out in the first hour?

It seems very very low to me ... players were conservative which means you almost have to get to a "crapshoot" ... though I didn"t think the structure was any more of a "crapshoot" then the end of the Blue Square $50k game final table ... (another story)

Is there a way to have a prize for the player who knocks out the most people in the season? That might encourage some action?

How slow would people have it?

I certainly seemed to be shovemonkeying earlier than normal!

Adding extra starting chips will make little difference. Even doubling them will only extend the comp by 2 or 3 levels tops.

I"d actually prefer 1500 chips with a 20 min clock, or something like that, the blind raises on iPoker are quite sharp - I think something that mirrors the Stars 180 man SNG structure would be reasonable for a league game.

I know it"s a $10 tournie on a Sunday evening, so shouldn"t expect too much, but APAT has always strived to be different from the norm, so I hope it"s tinkered with to good effect!

Congrats to everyone who played, cashed and scored :)

Speed up the action time - slow down the blinds?
« Reply #36 on: February 01, 2009, 23:45:42 PM »
... from my memory of Pokerstars you get a little less time to act but with a "Time" clock ... maybe that would work?

Overall I think it is a very good format.

i was on the button with 10k blinds 400/800  made it 2400 to go and bb shoved so 3600 in middle before his shove had put him on ax kg type hand. got that wrong. i called and he had jj. at that stage i was doing well, and yeh normally i would have folded but i felt that with stucture to make to final table i had to risk in all on a potential coin flip. does that explain the play any better? or maybe the third beer turned me into a donkey lol

I did feel I got short real fast. Don"t think should increase starting stack, it"s fine... Just maybe alter the blind times by even 2 minutes, I think even that would make a good bit of difference...

As with most things there must be a starting format that you either stick with or evaluate & move forward from, the 2,500 staring stack & 10mins blind does not allow for creative play & does suit the more aggressive loose player, where as a deeper stack & longer blinds would suit the more tight conservative player.
After reading the comments posted it looks like we need to find a more happy medium, I would like to suggest just increasing the blinds to 15mins with a starting stack of 3,000 chips & starting at 7pm for starters

Too quick for my liking but think this was caused more by the conservative nature of the game rather than the structure.

More chips would make no difference imo.  15 min clock ftw.

I thought the structure was perfect.  Was there a level 2?

It was fast and furious and great fun. Was it too fast? I think yes. Our tournament was concluded around 11pm. I pushed with  :as: ks and was insta called by  4d 4s who made trips on the flop. It became a crapshoot very early. I thought the end of season 2 series with the bounties was a better structure. Definately should be tweaked.

Sorry that was me, you were short and I was stacked.  Thats my defence.  I did give them away tho if thats any consolation.

Animal Magic has mentioned this already but I too would favour an earlier start such as 7pm to compensate for the tournament lasting longer if the structure is to be changed as many people seem to want.

Peronally, I had Kings cracked by tens around level 3/4 so have no 1st hand opinion.

The comp is still fun and should be a good league, but a change seems a popular request.
