What is happening to Our APAT?
« on: February 05, 2009, 23:54:58 PM »

Hi I would very much like to join in the fun and atmosphere at the weekend.

I am not asking for a seat for anyone else be it 1 of 5 who hasn"t go a seat.

I am not going to say how good or bad i play.

I am definately not offering bribes in the form of percentages.

I am sorry that you can"t make it yourself, on the other hand i can make it.

I will also play, if successful in the spirit intended by the original setup of APAT.

I am very off put by some of the wolves at the door tactics being advertised for all to see. I am hereby proposing that all further seats simply be resigned back to APAT to let Our esteemed team re-distribute any tickets that should become available for the future, in an undoubtedly fair manner, and stop this dragging of APAT down in the sewer.

Sorry if it sounds like a rant, but i really value APAT, it"s team, members and it"s glowing spirit. Let"s keep it that way.

Hi Paul,

I appreciate the sentiment but in my personal opinion you are wrong to be talking about "wolves at the door" here.  One could suggest that those players are extremely keen to go and are willing to give up a share of any winnings.  I"d rather not get into that discussion here as I have addressed what will happen going forward on another thread, I just felt I had to say that I think it is unfair to label players who are working within the published guidelines.

It remains the player"s responsibility to transfer their seat to a willing buyer.  APAT will not be taking that over as we"ve done it previously and it was a nightmare to manage across several players.

Cheers,

Des.

My response elsewhere, above.  I think you are way out of line here Paul.

Hi Des, how are you. Sorry if any one offended. I know i was, i wonder where it will end. Being devil"s advocate and taking things to the extreme here of course ???

20%, i"ll give 30% etc, wolves "" maybe the wrong choice, but lets say i have a ticket to a future event. In this vein i could put up a seat last minute and let the auctioning begin, hey i could sell it for what 95% and sit at home. Wow what a money spinner that could be...lol.

Ridiculous i know, or is it? who knows only time will tell.

I totally appreciate how difficult managing the seats are, however looking at last season compared to this one. Where will we be next year?

Just have to try and qualify, or clickfest if the pc is working properly at the time.

I sincerely apologise to anyone if they were offended, i can see how desperate they are for a seat. I doubt however they will see my desperation in true strength.

GL All with getting a seat, and even more luck in Walsall if you do.

Cheers

I"m well Paul and I do hope you get a seat.  I suspect you didn"t see my other post relating to this:

http://www.apat.com/forum/index.php?topic=2763.msg47098#msg47098

APAT continually looks at the way we run events, sell seats etc, and I"d like to think we have a good track record of changing procedures if they are not working as intended.

But to put a post up that talks of - bribes, wolves, "spirit intended by the original setup of APAT", sewers, etc - as you did, in my opinion is way over the top.

No offence was taken by me, but I tend to call it as I see it also.  I also don"t think we needed the second thread.  Have the discussion here or there.  ;)

Cheers,

Des.

I have responded on the other topic aswel Des, " weather etc".

I never meant to personally offend anybody. You or others may not like what you hear from me. I do not think i am "WAY" out of line.

I am not pleased with what i am seeing, i thought i was entitled to an opinion.

So now i have opened a topic, so that i can get the feel of my fellow Apater"s and what they think about the bartering. Maybe it is just me, but i would still like to hear from other members. Perhaps i am being too soft, or worrying too much.

I still feel, that should i win a seat, then sell it for full face value plus 25% of £3,500 Approx plus a seat at a GUkPT, then it amounts to a free bet with no risks, and i don"t see how that can come under the umbrella of, "Amateur" staus.

Also, i do not agree with asking for a seat for another person. I know some people don"t have access to pc"s, and that there aren"t any regionals.

I again apologise beforehand if i offend anyone personally, that is not my intent.

Welcome all responses.

Cheers

I will merge the content from the two threads together as we are going around in circles.  Everyone is free to have their say.

this place is like a soap opera sometimes lol

Disagree with you Paul- sure there may be people buying up seats to sell them on to gain a % but I strongly doubt it and should it get out of hand Im sure Des and co will change the rules very swiftly

Completely value your opinion Paul and if you"d taken a moment to read the thread I referred you to, you would have seen that a decision had already been taken to discontinue the percentage add on from our next event.  The bit I disagree with is your reference points to APAT above.

For info, the text of my two messages linked to above read:-

1.

The percentage element has gotten out of hand and we will be stopping it following this event.  From the Welsh Amateur Championship onwards, transfers will be strictly face value.

2.

Fair play to both, but in no way should that be seen as a criticism of any of the other seat transferers, who have sold their seats within agreed guidelines.

Unfortunately it is now becoming messy and we reserved the right to put a stop to any element that had the potential to take the transfer process into disrepute.  I don"t believe that we have reached that point, but as seat demand increases throughout the season so too will potential abuse.

I have had pc problems for the past few months now. Having paid for sats, then not be able to play without sitting out every 30 to 90 secs etc. Also getting spurious messages and posts being entered twice, all of there own accord You can see this a number of times if look through my last N months. Credit me with some intelligence?

I did not post this twice, i also did not have a go at APAT, i was sticking up for it.
Admittedly, as you put it slightly over the top.

I can"t believe you would think this post came about me not having a seat :-[
I assure you a similar message would have been posted had ii been first to qualify for Walsall. The future of APAT was in my thought, no more no less.

I did not sit here until 4a.m. reading all threads before posting, perhaps i should have.

Anyway, if i can"t post on something i felt this strongly about, then i can"t see the point in posting on lesser or lighter subjects.

I really don"t appreciate being be-littled because of a computer glitch, or dare anybody question your reply.

No circling intended, yours thoughtfully

Paul

P.S. Hope to see you soon Des, if not Walsall, maybe the next. Beer on me. :)

Tune in for the next episode George. ;D

Paul,

Not sure that your previous post makes much sense.

I don"t think anyone is having a go at your views, in fact the decision has been made to stop additional %"s being offered in the future, which I believe is part of what your original post was regarding.

You did post it twice, once in another thread and then in this thread.  Well, I certainly read it twice anyway.  It is late, but double vision hasn"t set in yet.   ;D

I"m sure you would post your views whether you had a seat or not, and quite right.  There has been a lot of discussion on the % debate recently, and I think APAT has reacted appropriately to the views of members, yours included.

And we don"t do belittlement on this forum, everyone is entitled to their view and I have reviewed the thread and struggle to see your point with that one.

My opinions on the matter are in the other thread, I fully disagreed with % being used as a sweetener in a deal to give one person an edge in getting a seat that becomes available over another player who isn"t willing to give up a % but still is eager to play. At the end of the day though APAT has again moved swiftly in changing this before it got out of hand. The offering of % is prohibited in seat exchanges for the Welsh National so the discussion is really over. Problems solved. NH WP GG.

What APAT does so well is re act to its members concerns, personally I didn"t see anything wrong in offering a %age, but APAT have decided that it was getting out of hand and knocked it on the head for future events, and that is fine by me. They also reduced the buy in to the on line nationals from $75 to $50 after concern was expressed that this was a touch dear.
Because this organisation is run by people who receive no payment, they have no ego and re act for the good of the organisation, so I say well done APAT, well done Des and the team.
Lets have a great time in Walsall, and may the best man or woman win! ;)

Well spotted Leigh, yes i replied on one thread. Then became so frustrated that i opened this new thread. Of course that was intentional. So you are not having double vision. My mistake, when Des mentioned repeating post i swiftly looked above and in my rush, thought post 3 and 5 of this thread were the same. It was I that had double vision, it just gets worse.  :"(
Now i am going round in circles by re-stating that i was not having a go at Des and the team. In fact i feel i have been very loyal towards them. Only Last Saturday in Blackpool i pointed three players towards the site, blowing it"s proverbial trumpet as always.

I missed all the previous threads, due to pc probs, i reacted too quickly and admit that. I did duplicate a post(apparently a mortal sin on the forum) for the reason mentioned above. This thread is therefore pointless, as all discussed elsewhere. It can only serve to confuse or paint a not so very nice, picture of me. Maybe in the future i shall try to concentrate on playing poker, and leave the rest alone.

So thanks for your replies guys, I agree put it to bed now, and good luck in Walsall.
