hi, I think we have all been through this at some time ,and lost some money into the bargain. I have been playing for 4 years and got fed up of bad beats also .I read in a magazine that ( the bad beat dose not hit you , you hit the bad beat ).
After reading this i started to learn how to become a intermediate player from a beginner, then move on to a advanced player . Thats when i started to learn more than just the two cards in front of me . Outs, hand odds, pot odds, percentages, the list goes on .I am still learning and will always be, but by learning this i hit very little bad beats . The ones i do hit dont seem as hard to take because with each one i think helps my learning.
If you know most of what there is to know please forgive me and  take a month off .
dont go near the computer . lock the doors and beg .

cheers, i do know of pot odds, implied odds and board reading but players need form one way or the other and im not on form, a snooker player can pot any ball in practise but in the tourney if not on form will miss easy pots(i used to play snooker a hell of a lot) so i think that poker has form as such.

as i dont play online much the computer is not a problem but gettint texts asking are u playing tonight is a bit of a tempter but i will resist.

played tonight and got aces cracked when got all his chips in, a flop of  qh 9d 4s saw him all in and i instacall, he shows k10 , turn a blank but the river was a jack filling his gutshot straight, am i right in thinking he only had a 5% chance on the river card to win the pot?

not good at all in my opinion. not the confidence boost that i needed.

i must be the unluckiest man in poker, or am i back to blasting my chips???

not the only one running bad mate. these last 2 days iv lost a total of 12 max buyins at cash tables, and also played about 10 sngs and not 1 cash........my bank roll is now halved. confidence is at all time low ever since i have been playing poker.

on that note wyoung i would advice a break of at least this weekend and maybe next week, instead of playing read a few poker books and just refresh your mind and maybe find a small nugget of info that may just help or inspire.

yeah i have been running bad as 2-5% chances have been hitting against me but last night was only a fun game and not being nasty to my opponents but a couple of them are fishy but if they win once in a while then they will be back next time donking off chips and giving me the cash.

I totally understand your situation, about 2 yrs ago i had a down turn that lasted nearly 8 months,  i nearly gave up poker totally, but bankroll management was my saving grace,  I came down the levels from $50 SNGs to $1/3 over that period, and still to this day am not too happy up in those dizzy hights again !!  the bankroll is still growing again and i venture upto $10 sngs and mtts but am only still at the 25/50c cash tables....  it knocked my confidence tottally and it takes a while to get it back fully but am getting there.....

my only advice would be to play within the bankroll so you can get through it and move up again when our happy in yourself and your game......
Poker is like life, some you win some you loose. but never bluff as sooner or later you will be found out.

This bit of advice is one that we should all listen too - To many players play outside of their BR"s or play games that are too big for their BR"s

For me good BR Management is one of the most important things a player can have
